black X-Lites?

has anyone here painted their X-lites black? I'm considering taking a rattle-can to mine.

i thought of doing that a year ago, but it cost too much to have it professionally done. black glossy inserts, silver lip.

May want to consider powdercoating. I;ve seen it done with S-lites Looked preety decent on a DS/B MINI.

I had my S-Lites done in gloss black. Had them powder-coated. Cost me $45.00 a wheel.

I'll have to get a picture resized to show what i looks like. I also had my gas cap powder-coated gloss black as well.

If you post the picture on your "gallery" it will take a lot bigger format. I want to see a picute before jumping on it. I'd love the black S-lites.

The problem with X-Lites is the big ol' plastic hub cap. I've seen an IB MCS in San Diego with all-black X-Lites. All-black except for the silver plastic cap, that is.

You could have everything painted black, but based on pricing I got for professional work, it will cost about $150 per wheel. (I wouldn't be willing to paint my own, but they're your wheels so you do what you want!)

Might be better off buying a new set of black wheels instead of messing with the X-Lites.

saw a set of x-lites spray canned black at the classic mini rally this year. i wasnt too impressed with the look. definitly looked tuned, but i do not think the finish on the wheels takes to black paint well. best bet is to powdercoat

Dump the heavy wheels and purchase a set of lightweight black aftermarkets. The finish will survive road combat much longer and the reduction in unsprung weight will put a smile on your face!!

Picture has been posted in my gallery. This isn't the most recent picture, as I have also blacked out the belt line and also have made the side marker vent grills black as well. Also removed the red in the S in the side markers.

While these aren't X-lites, rims usually look GREAT painted in a darker color. These Ronal S-Lites might be graphite, but look nice.

thanks guys. I was planning on doing this as a temporary fix until I get new wheels, but I think I'm just going skip the painting step and go straight to the new shoes - Kosei K1-TSes.
