Run flat tire presurre?

It would be greatly appreciated if someone out there has the best recommended tire pressure for 16 inch run-flats. I have two sets, Dunlop 5000 DST's and Goodyear NCT's. (both stadard MINI fitments) As we all know the run-flats ride pretty hard, so I wondering has anyone figured out what is the best pressure for ride comfort/street performance. Max pressure reads 55psi! BTW, drive "Austin" pretty leisurely as I just don't "beat" on my cars, although I can be convinced to drive very "spirited" once in awhile. (just a personal thing) Any advice would be great. Thank you in advance. Cheers!

Personally, I run mine around 42-44 PSI. This is more than the manual calls for but I prefer the handling characteristics over the softer settings.

I have an '05 w/ 16's and the sticker inside the driver side door say 30lbs at all four corners. However, when I set them at 30 I notice the tires squirm around a bit under hard breaking. When I put em up to 35 this pretty much goes away. I think anything harder than that would result in excessive wear in the middle of the tire. Hope this helps.

I live in Clevland too and like most of the midwest there is only two seasons, winter and road construction so this is what I did to improve my MINI's ride:
Take all the air out of your runflats, dismount the tires from the rims and put on some real tires: Toyo, Kumho, Goodyears, Yokohamas...you will not regret it!

Thank you

Thanks to all for the replies. I've been running at 40 psi and it seems to be good.......and TRUST ME, I will be ditching the runflats as soon as they are worn completley. Cheers.

My car came from the dealer w/ 40 psi, but I thought it seemed kind of squirelly (even given the bad press re runflats) so I lowered them to 34 psi & the handling & grip seems significantly better. Before I lowered the pressure I had also looked at the edge of the tire & even after taking some pretty fast corners (legal speeds, just lots of g's ) with the tires hissing/howling fairly loudly the wear pattern on the tread didn't even come close to the edge. I think it was tip-toeing on the center 1/3 of the tire tread at 40 psi.

The sticker in my door jamb says 30 pounds, 35 for 100 mph. 40 seems a bit high for street use. Those darn runflats are stiff enough at 30. Just for giggles I'm going to air mine up to 40 & see if I can stand it.

Like CooperSKart says you won't have much of a footprint at 40.
