BFG g-force Sport question

This is a question for Tire Rack and anybody in So. Calif who has BF Goodrich g-force Sports on their MCS: has anyone experienced tramlining with these?
I have Yokohama AVS es100's on my MINI now but it's due for some new shoes soon. The Yoko's are OK but I've heard good things about the BFG's.
Thanks,
Sharon

I have the BFG g-force KDW's and I love them. Some people say they are noisey, but I don't think they are as loud as the runflats. P.S. can't hear them over the CAI and exhaust any way.

Thanks for the recommendations, guys and I agree they're the tires to get. What I want to know is if they tramline????? VERY important to me because of my commute is over LA freeways that are grooved and generally very bad.

thanks again though!

I have the BFG Sports and really like them. I push them hard down back roads. No problems to report.

Tirerack is a good resource for reviews:

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....ce+T%2FA+KDW+2

I'm in the too loud group, the humming howling noise we get at times plus the general highway noise really puts us both off; never had a tire make that howling noise before and we know its not due to a problem. We will try something else next time.

I have not, however, found them to be bad tramlining-wise, so you may be happy with them. Hope that helps

Tramlining is more of a function of the width of the tires and sidewall construction. What size tires are you planning out getting?

I've read the reviews thoroughly on Tire Rack and nobody mentioned tramlining. I guess that's a good thing. I will be fitting *I think* 205/45-16's on r90 16" wheels. I *think* that's the size. Somewhere around there.
Noise seems to be an issue with the cheaper tires across all brands. Boy these Yoko's I have are really howling now. I don't remember them being that loud when they were new. Thanks for all your inputs and help with this. NAM is the best!

205/50R16 is the size.

I've only got ~50 miles on mine, so I cannot comment on them yet...

I have 205/50/16 and they work fine. No tram lining. Go where I point them. Not so noisy. Four thousand miles on them now.

add 1-2 lbs PSI to reduce tram lining if it occurs.

Well, I've got about 1000 miles on them now.

Nowhere near the grip of a Bridgestone Pole Position S-03 or Goodyear F1 GS-D3, but the BFGs are cheaper, so that's okay.

They still stick at beyond legal speeds, just not as well as the stuff a class above them - which makes sense.

Other than that... they're tires.

ive got a set of geforece KDWs waiting to go on the car next week. i will have a full report then.

locally the KDW was only 5 bucks more a tire than the sport, i figured why not, i can handle a little extra noise

If by tramlining you mean they follow the grooves in the road then the answer is no, they do not tramline. I also am in the not too noisey group. I absolutely love these tires, but considering what I just got rid of I may not be impartial.

I have the g-Force Sports and they don't tramline at all compared to the original runflats. Mine are on 17" s-lites and they are excellent tires for all around daily driving. I don't track or autocross so I can't comment on them in those areas.

just an update, got the KDWs on with the "saner" looking tread pattern, and they are loud. not annoying loud, but around town and on the freeway they are noticeably louder than the stock runflat.

Loud!

I just took off my BF KDW's. They were great for about 8k then got hard and loud. I mean real loud!! The noise was driving me crazy.

I also live in so-cal. I'm on my third set of tires. I start seeing tram-lining at around the the same time the tires start getting loud. IMHO tire wear plays a big part in tram-lining as well as noise.

One more thing. After two sets 215x40x17 I switched to Kumho MX's in 215x45x17. What an amazing tire. I'm sure they won't last as long as my previous tires but I don't care. These things are so sticky. The are also unbelievably quiet. Switching to a 45 from a 40 series was the best thing I've done. The car rides so much better . I will never go back to a 40 series again.

yeah i am riding on the KDWs with 215/45/17, i cant see the benefit of a 40s tire, it isnt the proper tire for the car..

still haven't bought the tires

I still haven't bought the tires yet. I'm squeezing every mile out of these humming (wa-wa-wa) Yoko's. I took the car up on Mulholland and hit some potholes and prayed the tires wouldn't blow. The tread is very thin on the fronts, but they held up. So I take it people are pleased with their g-force sports, but not the KDW's so much? thanks for all the discussion though, it does help. I promise I will order soon and let this thread DIE.

KDW2's are great handling and performing tires.. until the lugs wear down - they're still grippy as heck, but loud as h*ll. When they wear down, you might as well have BFG Mud Terrains on...

Exactly.... Great tires, but too damn loud. For daily diving 140+ miles they became way to loud. Ended up going back to Proxes4.
