Hoping this winter ends in the Northeast, I'm finally going to get rid of my run flats. Have been considering Bridgestone Potenza S03, Dunlop SP9000, Yoko AVS ES-100 or the Pirelli PZero Neros. Heard the Dunlops are noisy, I know some MCO people are using the Yoko's and the Potenza's are the biggest $$$ of all. Was wondering if anyone has experience with the Pirelli's? I am looking at a 205/50/16 size. Thanks in advance...

I'm putting the Nero's on this evening! I'll let you know how they turn out. They're supposed to be the best compromise of comfort, noise, and dry and wet performance. Ohhhh, I can't wait!!

After researching the tires available and speaking to other drivers my choice is the Yoko AVS ES100's...

Check with Dan at Tire Rack. He'll give you his opinion...he also recommended the Yoko's to me. Despite the Fact that the Bridgestones are more expensive.

The Yokos keep coming up again and again...and they seem to be a pretty good deal.

Grinder - let me know how the Nero's are

Another tyre to consider would be the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3.A better tyre than the Yokohama ES100 in the area of wet and dry performance. The ES100 will last longer than the Eagle F1,and is $36.00 cheaper. The PZero Nero is more expensive than the Eagle F1(by a whole $9.00)and would be better on a more balanced car like a Honda S2000.For a front wheel driver, the Eagle F1 appears to be the better tyre.EVO magazine performed a tyre test using a Ford ST 170(SVT Focus to us Yanks)comparing 11 high performance tyres. The Eagle F1 and the Michelin Pilot's were 1 and 2.I can't afford the Michelins.

Oilman930, thanks for another option here...believe I met you down at Helix13 back in December - I was the only MC down there in the afternoon getting dyno'd
What issue of EVO was that in? (great mag by the way)

I have the Yokos and they got chewed up a little
more than I thought they should. I emailed Yoko
and offered to send pics(didn't ask for money back
or anything like that) and got no reply. I won't get
them again.

2minis - were they chewed up during daily driving or auto-x? In any case, it's unacceptable...

I like the Neros. Especially compared to the Blizzaks!! Now, as a disclaimer, I haven't had extensive experience with tires in general, but I *did* like the Neros. They were nice and quiet on the trip up to the autoX school, and they were fairly grippy on the course. They did get a little beat up over the course of 24 runs (see pics), but then again, they aren't meant for that. They're comfy, quiet and reasonably sticky...just what I wanted.

Road noise wasn't bad. I was switching from some winter Blizzak WS-50s, and before that the Eupori@s. I might put the Eupori@s back on for a comparison in the near future.

I believe the issue of EVO is the Feb edition. But if I wanted to take bets on it,look in all the editions for this year,it's in there.I've heard a few people are using the Goodyear Eagle F1's,but it doesn't come up to often in the mix for some reason.I guess most people don't like Goodyear.
