Run flat tire pressures for X-Cross?
#1
I have a testing/drivers school weekend coming up. Can anyone recommend front/rear tire pressures for my 17 inch runflats. I know that this isn't what will be the best but I am stuck with them for right now. Also any suggestions on tire pressure changes that will help understeer would be appreciated.
Thanks :???:

I did an autocross a couple of weeks ago and found that 28 in the fronts were a little high, in the rear that was good. Your right the run flat tires are pretty bad. Just before your run grab the emergency brake and smoke the fronts for about 10-15 sec to warm them up. That will help. Good luck and have fun.

Using the 17" Pirelli Euforias in three events last year, I started out running at stock street pressures to get a feel for them. After the first event I went up to 38 psi in the front and tested the rars at 3-5 psi lower.
If you have Dunlops or are using 16" tires instead, the numbers may differ.
If you are just beginning, I would try to get a feel for the car at street pressures and then adjust accordingly.
Good luck,
Ricardo

I have no experience with run-flats but street tires tend to need high perssure to stand up to auto-x and track events....
I would start at or near the max pressure listed on the sidewall (front) and a few pounds lower in the rear.... or .... one old trick is to start at street pressure and keep going up untill the tires only gain a few pounds of pressure when up to temp....
error on being too high... to low and you will take chunks out of the tread edges...
