Nice wheel. Here is a link to the discussion about it. Would an 8" wheel fit under our cars? The other thing is that the Miata has only a 54.1mm centerbore while the MINI's is 56.1mm. It sounds like this guy is producing this specifically for the Miata. Might be worth asking him about though!

I did 59.1
225/45/15 full auto-x compound and street tires. Found these online

I've read here that +30 to +36 might be optimum but no ones seems to know empiricially, just speculation. I'll test fit a Mini with Wilwoods when I get my first sample.

I thought that the OEM offset was high, like around +50 ET? (I'd have to dig around a little to find the info.) If so, +30 seems not to be enough. Wouldn't they hang out beyond the fender - especially an 8"er? I even wonder if a +40 8" would fit under the fender?

BTW, here's the wheel pic for those who don't feel like clicking the link :

The rim width seems a little high; I just bought 15x7 Konig Rewind wheels with 225/50/15 Yokohama AVS ES100 tires. I know the wheels will fit (several other people are using them), but I'm hoping the tire width won't be a problem. I'll have them next week. It seems to me like the 8" wheel is on the wide side for a 225 width wheel, tho?

I'm certainly not a tire/wheel expert. (Most everything I know has been learned in the last few years of owning a MINI.) But, a 225 tire is almost 9" across the tread - I would think an 8" wheel should work.

Back to that offset question, though - the more I think about it, you might need to drop down to the +30's on an 8" wheel to maintain enough clearance inside. I know I can find it, but what was the offset on your 7" Rewinds?

I'm still curious if these would fit right - except for that centerbore. If so, I wonder if the guy who designed them would consider a second production run for MINIs (and Civics I think.)? We'd probably have to do a Group Buy. I'd like them in either anthracite or black with the fronts of the spokes polished.

I'd also like to see what they'd weigh in a 16" version!

The rewinds are +40, and there's a very limited set of configurations of that wheel (ie. 0 and +40, and that's it). I'd like to retract my earlier skepticism on the rim width; 8" appears to be the upper boundary for 225 cross-section tires (at least for Kumho ECSTA SPT. That link from the Tire Rack says that, for a 225/50 WR16, the rim width range is 6-8", and the measured rim width is 7". What this means to me (and I hope Alex is watching this to correct me if I'm wrong) is that, for this particular tire, 7" is the "best" rim width for this tire. These numbers are the same for my 225/50/15 AVS ES100 tires.

I don't think it's necessarily the "best" fit but that's just the fitment used to do the tread and section width measurements on. With a 6" or 8" wheel, those values might be different.
