Post March 2003 Brake Lines
Post March 2003 Brake Lines
I purchased some post March 2003 brake lines for my 2005 MCSC but I suspect that they are pre-March 2003 even though the package indicates differently. I looked at the rear brake lines and those are the ones that don't look right. Can someone describe the post March 2003 brake lines to me and indicate how they differ from the pre March ones. Thanks!
[If you have pictures - that's even better!]

Eeek. Yes I know more about the rear than I care too! I think we may have the info backwards...
It was my understanding that the 02 and perhaps some 03 cars have the M12 banjo end into the bottom of the caliper. This will be a banjo bolt and crush washer set up.
The later cars have an M10 male hose end threaded directly into the caliper body at about a 45* angle. In fact I did an 04 last week with this.
However....I've been told of late of a customer struggling with what appears 'early' fittings on a 'late' car. Go figure.
You'll need to be specific with the supplier to your needs.

Best?
You mean fine woven? Thickest teflon? Heaviest gauge SS brade? SS ends? Covered with some sort of coating?
Side by side some might suggest their reasons for being superior to the others but on car you'd never know the difference. When you board a plane do you ask which brand of braided hose is used on the flaps?

Yes, I understood that.
Depending upon what brand you shop these are the items you'll have to debate as better than the other brand.
About the only 'nice' things I can say make some hoses truly worth more than others are full on Stainless fitttings (not just part) and a fully covered braid (assorted colors even!) for rust prevention of the fitting and anti chafing of the hose.
Those items aside (and related cost) you'd never know the difference from one brand to the next.
