favorite wheels and tires for PW/B
favorite wheels and tires for PW/B
Just waiting for my 06 PW/B MCS. Do any of you have suggestions about tires and wheels? I picked up a cancelled order so I did not have the opportunity to spec out myself.
It has the sport package which comes with the 586 17" alloy wheels with all season run flat tires. It also has an dealer installed upgrade that can still be cancelled--anthracite R99's. The dealer wants $2495 including install. That seems like a total rip off. I live in the PNW so rain is my biggest issue...
Also is the dealer obligated to give me the tires/wheels in the sport package as well as any upgrade?

That price for the upgrade package does seem steep. If I understand you correctly I believe that you are entitled to the standard "sport" package of 17" Slites with runflats. If you want to go with different wheels and tires and sell those, then you have to decide whether to stay with runflats (you have no spare remember), or go with one of the other ways to handle a flat (conti kit thru tire rack, etc.) and go with conventional tires. Then you decide what diameter rim, etc. There is a wealth of info and opinion on many threads here as to those options. If it was my car, I would go with 16 inch, relatively lightweight, quality wheels and given your weather situation, a high perf. all season. I like Gram Lights 16X7 in the 7spoke design (about 15lb. & $232 thru tirerack) with Pirelli Pzero Nero M+S in 205/50/16. I've had the Pzero Neros on my Audi TT for over 20K miles and they're lovely tires - Good handling, quiet, good wear, good rain capability. A package like that would run you about $1500 thru Tirerack. I believe you'd save about 10 to 12 lbs. unsprung weight per corner. You might like the bronze color wheels on your PW/B car. Just my 2cents
I have PW/B also. Though I have already had my set of custom wheels (Enkei RSV bronze), I still keep on looking different wheels. I think you should go with aftermarket ones. See if you like my personal choice (not in order) ...

something dark...anthracite or bronze would be my first pics. The R99's are hot, just way too expensive, IMHO. I have always had great luck with Rotas...and they have some great colors as well. I have a used set of Bronze Circuit 8's i will be using on my MCS.
16" Rotas tend to run in the $500 range for a set...not too bad!
http://subydude.com always has a good range of styles & colors on the rotas....

agreed... LOVE those Racing Sparcos!
that said, some of those wheels do have 4x100 bolt pattern, the Weds TC005 i think does come in 4x100 in 16 inch, not for 17 (at least not for the anthracite)
for PW/B, black, or bronze would look good

For street I am running a Konig Theory with graphite spokes and polished rim on my PW. If I were buying them again I would buy them in black, though. The polished rim adds a bit of brightness but the dark spokes look great with PW. They also don't show the brake dust as bad either.

The sparco would be awesome in 17in.
Personally, I like gold and bronze wheels on pepper whites. Some bronze gram lights, or gold spokes with a polished lip.

How is the fit and finish? Quality?, any probs? Do you happen to have the total weight with tires? Just wheels? I heard they were about 19 lbs, and I'm hoping that is a heavy estimate. Not a bad move for an "S" to drop some weight, but I'd be going from holies, not S-lites.
