Snow Tires

I currently have 17" s-lites w/run flats, Good all-season tire, but not that great in the snow. I was looking at getting some 15" rims for the winter. Can I go to the local junk-yard and find rims I need? What size do they have to be? What's a decent tire that's doesn't cost a lot? Also what size to to get? Thank you!! -- Johan

I guess you COULD go to the junkyard, I don't know if you SHOULD, though. 15 in. wheels on a MINI will fit 185-65-15 snows. Thinner tires = better snow traction. Tirerack has dunlop graspics on sale right now for 62$ a tire.

Another bet is to troll the marketplace or your local mini club. Can find good deals on peoples take off wheels. I got a set of 16" 5 star jobbies for 200 with tires on them, using them now as my winters with a set of Dunlop M3 wintersports. Working great for me so far.
