Rear brake wear??

Just changing out the wheels today and decided to look at the brake wear. The fronts have about 1/3 life in them but the rears are just about gone! I'd say about an 1/8 left!
I've got about 25k miles on the car and have never seen any of my previous 35+ different cars go through rear pads like this.
Anyone else see similar rear brake wear? Maybe a problem with the rear calipers or pads?
Figured to be replacing the brakes soon due to the way I drive (very fast!).
Now I hope they will last through the 600 mile trip to Knoxville this weekend. (House hunting)
I guess I'll not be going to the Dragon! Pooey!

A guy that I know that tracks quite a bit had the same thing happen - the rear brakes toasted themselves at the track and munged his rotors mid-session, while the front pads still had quite a bit of life on them. Seems backwards, doesn't it?

His MINI dealer boiled it down to malfunctioning rear calipers - they were grabbing almost all the time, instead of running free, hence they destroyed the rear pads very quickly... They replaced both rear calipers, the rotors, and brakes pads for free.

Thanks, It seemed odd to wear the rears out first. I'll check with the dealer on the upcoming visit.

I had my rear brake pads and rotor replaced under the maintenance plan at about 25k as well. I thuought the same thing about rear brakes going first. The SA said that is pretty normal for MINIs. I wasn't too upset about it, as the replacement was free. Call your dealer, they may be able to get you in quickly for the pad change. It is a safety issue, they may bump you to the head of the line.

Shrug - I dunno. I track mine and autocross a LOT and my fronts wear faster than the rears... I mean, the fronts are doing the vast majority of the stopping!

Yea, I think there's a problem going on there. Hopefully the dealer is as kind to me as I was to them. ($7700+ worth of JCW)

I've not done any track and leave the DSC off unless it's raining or snowing.
