Brakes Squeal after getting new rear pads

A couple of days after having my rear brake pads replaced (at 40K) they began to squeal when I apply the brakes. The high pitched is coming from the rear. Any thoughts?????

1. Factory pads or what?

2. Did you replace the rotors too? Do anything to them? How smooth are they?

3. This work was done by? warranty?

4. The fronts were previously replaced? With the same pad / rotor (or not) and at the same place?

I had the brake pads replaced at a mini dealer. I did not have the rotors replaced just the pads. Yes they were under warranty...but I had also purchased the extended maintenance. I found the invoice for the rear brakes and the technician stated....inspected rear brakes and found pads at 3mm, rotors above min specs. Removed and replaced pads and sensor and reset vehicle data. Part listed. BMW 34 21 6 762 871 and BMW 34 35 6 761 448

OK, to be clear your pads were replaced under 'extended maintenance' ... the warranty I asked about was a warranty from the place that installed the pads.

If your pads were replaced by a MINI dealer and you are not 100% happy ... go back to the dealer. Last time I was there they had a 1 year warranty on their work and parts.

{very curious isn't it that MINI says replace rotors with every pad change UNTIL you are under an extended plan????}

I have an appointment in the morning. I was just curious as to what could be causing the noise?
I will look into the rotor replaced with pads motto. Thanks

Interesting your maintenance writeup shows they replaced the pads and the rear wear sensor but didn't list the plastilube 83 19 2 158 851. Plastilube is the anti-squeal paste.

With my last maintenance (extended) the dealer replaced only my front pads as well stating the rotors were within spec. I haven't had any issues with them, eventhough the rotors look like courdoray. Lots of dust though. This was on my '08 MCS.

Turns out the rotors should have been replaced when the pads were...
