Replace Front Rotors on a 2003 S ???
Replace Front Rotors on a 2003 S ???
I looked on the how to forum on how to do it and I didn't find it .Could someone please tell me how to do it because I don't know how to get the center nut off. Do I need a special tool ?
You'll first need to remove the brake calipers.
Once they are removed, there's a screw you'll need to remove from the center section of the rotors between the lugs.
More than likely, the screw will be frozen and hard to remove....likewise, once it's removed the rotor itself will probably need coaxed off as well.
Follow guide to remove rotor (works for R50 or R53)

What rotors were you going to use for replacement?
Pick one that is painted in the center hub area to reduce corrosion and rust.
Drilled and slotted more for looks, not needed for street use. Cryo treated to resist heat from track or autocross, not needed for street only use.
Some examples-

See
Centric High Carbon Plain 125 Series Rotors $39 each front, $31 each rear
Brembo Plain rotors $41 each front, $50 each rear
Change brake pads as needed-
StopTech Street Performance pads $65 each front and rear pairs
For street use with less brake dust-
Akebono Euroceramic pads $65 front pair, $71 rear pair
Centric Posi Quiet Ceramic pads $53 front pair, $45 rear pair

Remove wheel, then remove T50 torx bolt on center hat. If you need you can use a screw driver to keep the rotor from turning. Then use a 7mm allen to remove the caliber, and then use 16mm socket and ratchet to remove caliber bracket. After that you can smack the rotor with a hammer and it will come right off.

Way,
what about which brake pads you have?
Akebono Euro pads OK? $95 for both front and rear sets very good

The Akebono's are ok for a street car, but I really personally like the EBC redstuff pads.

I've used EBC Green for years for pure street driving on my 02-S and now my 07
WAY - if you recommend red over green, why? I'm due for new pads soon.
the greens are not bad pads, but I've found the reds to have better bite, and less dust. So I've switched many customers from Green to red and the general response from the customers has been that they never had anything wrong with the greens, but now that they have reds they like them better.
