SS Brake Line Suggestions...

Hey All,

I think the next mod on my car will be SS brake lines when I change out the fluid. Any suggestions on a specific brand?

Thanks!

Awesome!

Thanks for the info. Also, I do not track my car, but I do several club events every few months in the mountains. Are the fluids you mentioned great for a car that is more daily driver than track car?

Dan at Grassroots sells some ss lines that look very nice imo.

I'm running the Super Blue now for daily driving and weekend spirited driving.

Thanks Jeff!

Dan had some slightly used ones there when I got my springs and sway bar done on the 29th. They were also a great color: blue! (Too bad you cannot really see them, though.) I will definitely call/email him tomorrow.

You will be fine with Castrol GT LMA brake fluid and probably don't really need SS lines.

I used to have SS brake lines on the prelude and I remember reading about coated ones versus non-coated.

If it's just a regular rubber line with a SS mesh on top, those are wear items and probably need to be inspected every year.

If it's coated, I read they last longer. Reason being dirt / grime can get between the mesh SS and rubber hose and rubbing.

Just a thought if you really need SS lines.

Most performance car mfg. will recomend that the brake fluid be flushed every year. Even though it is a closed pressurized system, moisture can still get in to it, via the weather temperture.

You will notice a much more positive pedal feel with SS lines. A rubber brake hose line will expand via pressure increase. This will cause a "mushy" feel in the brake system.

I just changed my entire brake system and used ATE Super Blue. Any DOT 4
brake fluid is compatable with the system. Do not use 2 different types of fluid.

I've had NM's SS lines now for 2yrs. and +25K. They have a Teflon tube wrapped in SS mesh that's coated. They gave an immediate improvement in peddle feel and that hasn't changed to this day. Will be doing a fluid change soon and am going to Motul RBF 600 at that time. Will have to cut my fluid interval in half with that stuff, but so be it.

+1 on NM stainless brake lines. Installed them, flushed fluid and pedal feel improved significantly.
