Bolt problem when fitting Wilwood TCE Plus 1 kit on 06 JCW

A week ago I got the Plus 1 kit from TCE. I've got a R95 wheels so I checked if I need spacers, which I need (5mm). So I tried mounting the Wilwood BBK 11'75 rotors.
To my surprise I found that the bolts in my 06 JCW were 14M and not 12M.
I wrote an email to Todd and he said the best thing to do is to drill them and I won't have any problem. I'm a bit scared about it, I've never thought this could happen, but it happened.
A part from that I saw that the dust plate behind the stock rotors must be removed as well.
This afternoon I'll go and mount it. I'll let you know.

You cam also use the 14-12mm studs that Texas Speedwerks has. Thats what I did.

Well, what I've done is to drill the bolts from 12M to 14M. Let's see what happens this afternoon.

Apart from that, if the bolts can go through the holes and get 1mm o 0'5mm loose, do you think I'll get problems?

The hat holes are about .525" when bored stock for the M12 bolts. If drilled to 9/16 or M14 that's a near zero fit fit on the bolt, much tighter than the over sized hole it was on an M12 bolt. Hats are all hub centric and the stud holes could be 3/4" and have no effect on function.

Wilwood is well aware of this problem. They have been informed by me for nearly a year and from other vendors also. I recently gave them the specs off a 2008 oem rotor to use yet they still refuse to do anything about it. I cannot do any more about it other than to pass all the kits through my shop to drill them here but that's going to add more cost...

For M14 users you'll simply need to over size the holes or do the stud conversion- not a bad plan if you needed spacers also now that I think about it.

What was the date (month/year) of your car build?

I mentioned this to Wilwood (again) this morning. They finally have a rotor in house and have verified what I've told them. They have plans to produce the hat with M14 holes but it will not be double drilled. Orders will need to specifiy which hat they need. No idea on the time line for this but I'd suspect 3-4wks unless they are close to running the M12 parts also and need only to change one part of the run program.

Nice to know that we'll finally have this one resolved.

I believe that the M12 to M14 switch happened in 5/06. Anything before is M12. Anything after is M14. Anything during is up in the air...

RealOEM indicates the change occurred on 07/12/2006.

That's what I though too, but I've heard a few cars got it even before that--kind of hit or miss. I have a 2006 that I picked up in Nov 2005, so I SHOULD be safe (I have the 11.75 kit on the way). I just didn't want to see that this car was built before mine, for my own selfish purposes...

Sure Todd! Today I've mounted it. At the beginning I had to double brake to make it work. Now I can brake as always.

If you drill the rotors in the right place they work perfectly. Well right after 6 hours they have started working as I thought they would.

They are already fit.

More photos as soon as I'll mount the new wheels.
