Tire SIZE choice on 17"

Howdy all. I am progressing to 17's and need to decide on tire size.

I made a real boob last time around when I got a 55 sidewall for my 16's. Wayyy too Flexi. I was thinking I'd get it for "comfort"

The car is lowered so I am thinking 205 width to reduce chance of rubbing. Would you suggest 40 or 45 sidewall?

Many thanks,

N

stock is 205/45 on 17's. if you change that ratio you'll be compromising your speedometer accuracy. (if that matters to you)

I'm running from the factory GoodYear allseasons (till their dead) on 17's 205/45... which will be replaced by dedicated summer tires (and dedicated winters mounted on other rims)...

What width wheel are you planning on using? I run 7.5" wide on mine with a 215/40 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW-2

205/45 & 215/45 will work, 215's dependent of the wheel offset.
215/40 works also but has less load bearing "saftey margin"

205/40 is too small for Mini, imo

Yeah thanks guys! The wheel is a 17x7 Tenzo. My reluctance to go 215 was due to the fact that my car is slammed. The 205 should give me a little room!

I appreciate the input!

I just got 17X7, Tenzo DC-5 Version 2 wheels put on a few weeks ago. My tires are 215/45/17. Which Tenzo's did you get

HAH! Yeah those are V cool. I'm going Version 1 of the DC-5 to get the red lip. I think I will stay 205 width though. Have you got a pic of those wheels on your car?

Yes indeedey

& after adding my new Aesthetic Creations checkered centercap decals...

It was really hard to do the wheels justice in a photo. They really look stunning in person

& p.s... I dunno about version 1 but my wheels required different lug bolts & hubcentric rings so be sure to ask when you order so it won't delay your install.
