Question about smaller wheel/tire size for a F56 4-door MCS
Hey All,
I recently switched my car to a 2015 MCS, 4-door. I'm wondering if I could use the snow tires from my previous car on the MINI when it comes to winter? There's a lot of life left on them and it'd be great if I could...
The size is 175/65/R15. It's a set of Michelin X-ICE2 tires on steel wheels. Wheels have a bolt pattern of 4-100, 4.5 backspacing, size: 15x6
I don't know much about tires and wheels but I do know you can 'downsize' for winter, but that's about it. Thanks for the help!
That's a Yaris/Prius C or MINI 15" size tire. The rolling diameter is about right, but that's about where it ends. Double check the load capacity is acceptable.
Also, the F55 [4-door version of the F56] has 5x112 bolt pattern, so for sure the wheels won't fit. I'd also be wary of a 15" wheel fitting over the Cooper S's larger brakes.
IMO a better sure-thing winter solution would be a factory F55 or F56 16" wheel with a 195/55-16 winter tire. Unless you live in literally in the Arctic, you don't need to go more than a "minus 1" for your winter setup.
