Front Camber Plates - what do you have? Which is best for auto x?

Sorry if this is a re-post. I've read LOTS of the posts here regarding camber plates but would like some direct information from those who have them and autox as to which plates are BEST and do NOT REQUIRE CUTTING etc. Also, with the camber adjustments do I need to get a front strut brace and/or rear sway bar?

I will be autoxing the car this year (rookie) but have the V710s and hear that without the camber plates they will wear badly on the outside fronts. True?

Ireland engineering street don't need cutting along with their new street-track version coming out in about a week.
H-sport has a new design also that is very nice, along with the RDR. All of the above are very good. Hope it helps.

I am specifically looking at the MINI MADNESS PRO FRONT CAMBER PLATES from Coopersport ($769.99 CDN). Does anyone run with these? How was the install? Are you happy with the result?

Pricey.

No personal experience, but I run the RDR/Helix plates. I think Eric has them for $500. Best bang for the buck. Easy to adjust, no cutting. Very high quality.

I've seen the RDR/Helix plates in person, as well as the Mini Madness ones. They look exactly the same to me. Very beefy and high quality. Appears to fit very well from what I've seen on other people's cars.

Thanks guys! Placed the order last night from Helix

Very excited ...although the extra points are going to make it hard to win in the PAX times at autox

I agree that you cannot beat that price, but that's part of the problem I have with them... why are they so much cheaper than everything else? Are they comparable in quality? Doesn't seem like they could be, but I have no data at all to back that up.

I admit the Helix version is much better looking and nice machined marking registers. Once mounted and aligned, the IE works just like it was designed...

Slightly off-topic question? Can the adjustable camber plates be used with a stock suspension? I plan to jump to coilovers next year, and can afford the cost (and AX mod points) for the camber plates this year. I'm looking for better grip and tire wear in the short run. And hoping that with the plates I can dial some negative camber into the stock MCS suspension for now. Any thoughts?

As far as the Helix setup goes: YES.

Will the IEs work with the M7 strut bar set up?

Thanks,
Tim

I have the Ireland street/race adjust camber plates. My car also has Bilstein sport shocks with H&R sport springs and we can't get more than 1/2 degree neg camber before the top of the springs hit the inside of the strut tower.

I have talked to IE about it and they say I should be able to get more than 1/2 degree neg camber. I need to get them some measurements of my strut tower spacing to see if there is anything weird about my car. Anyone else have any issues with neg camber on an 05 MCS?

You are correct...they are wrong The draw back with IE's earlier design required trimming of the tower top for adjustment clearances. Their new release has offset mounts that allow greater adjustability but I still don't understand how you can get the full movement without cutting

My problem is not that I can't slide the plates inward to get big neg camber, it is sliding it inward makes the spring hit the tower at 1 degree neg.

Talking to IE, they say with the old design, I should be able to get at least 1.5 neg.

The IE adjustable plates look good for price and adj. range IF they work like their site says, up to -3 deg. street with 1/4" lowering or -3.5 deg. race with 1" lowering, but it looks to me like there is no way to get to the top of the shock to adj. dampening and that's a major problem for many. Exceptions would be non rebound adjustable shocks and inverted shocks where the adj. would be on the bottom and Leda's with their side adj. but I HATE Leda's. I believe the Bilstiens are inverted, so they should work well with these.

I have K-Mac race plates which lower the car, at least, 9/32" and I'm happy with them. They allow caster adj. as well.

Their website says it works with PSS9. Do those adjust from the top?
