Sweeet Mother of MINIs I like this setup I just finished a trouble free install of M7's USS and took Msfitoy out for a spin. I must say that the difference to me was very noticable...especially over the heavily grooved pavements across asphalt intersections (from Michigan's overweight semis:impatient). Turn in response feels quicker too...another keeper mod

Now it's a race against the clock...DFIC, DFIC, YEEEEAH BABY

INSTALLED TODAY. HAD TO SLIGHTLY MODIFY ALUM. SKID PLATE FOR FRONT MOUNT TO SIT FLUSH AND ALLOW CLEARANCE TO ALLEN BOLTS. NO BIG DEAL. DROVE UP TO CLUB MEETING TONIGHT, EVERYTHING JUST SEEMS TIGHTER. BIG TEST IS ON SAT. DRIVING TO MONTEREY, HWY 198 TO G-16(CARMEL VALLEY ROAD)THAT WILL REALLY LET ME FEEL THE DIFFERENCE.

Is an air impact gun really needed for the install? If so, where can I get one cheap?

Both Chad and I didn't use one...I pretightened the allen bolt/expansion nut assembly before wrenching. The one thing I did differently (because I didn't read the instructions) was to insert the expansion nut into the hole without the large washer. By doing so, the nut expanded right up against the sheet metal, preventing it from any movement during assembly. I then placed the large washer between the expansion nut and the USS assembly. Seemed to have worked out nicely for me. Don't forget to locktite every bolt/nut and torque down tight (not 300ft/lbs).

Do not do it this way unless you ask Peter for his approval or it may not be covered under warranty

What exhaust systems are you using? So far we have not had ANY trouble with stock systems but we have seen issues with both Miltek and the Alta cat backs. We have simple fixes for both but you need to contact us.

My M7-USS clears the Milltek resonator by about 1/8" and doesn't contact it when hot. I have installed three M7-USSs and none have rattled.

Red Fury,i had the USS installed on my Mini with a Miltek header and catback. The rattle on my car was due to the long brace on the front brace rubbing the header. Easy fix no noise at this time.Q

Is that the M7 solution?

There are a couple of fixes but we found the easiest was to " ovalize " the two bolt holes in the triangular black stamped plates which are bolted to the car . If you enlongate them about 1/8 th to 1/4 of a inch forward you can slide the cross bar forward just enough to clear the resonator on the Miltek. As some have noted many do not touch at all but for those that do about 5 min grinding will solve the issue entirely. Of course if you would like to call me before or during the install if you have any questions feel free. Call between 9 am and 11 pm PST if possible

This sums it up for me, too. Had my USS installed today, and the difference is noticeable immediately. As others have noted, the car seems to ride more smoothly, as though the suspension is now able to more effectively do its job. The car also seems quieter and more stable over bumps. Very impressed.

Peter, you ought to offer the USS with your lowering springs as a package deal, with some sort of package savings. Since I also have your springs, I can testify that the two go together like peanut butter and jelly.

Great job!

...well, I almost had mine installed; two of those fancy fasteners expanded below the actual hole - in that recess area. The other side worked just fine. When I torqued the allen screw, it popped out...Randy, maybe you should include a couple dozen extra Soooo, gotta wait for some new parts.

Had the USS installed at the Dragon. Simply amazing! Any cabrios that don't get this mod are doing themselves the disfavor of not being able to enjoy their MINI beyond belief. In otherwords, if you doubt the performance of this mod then drive someone's who has it. Then you'll believe.
