I forgot how much the swift springs lowered the car, I probably read it here or the info is out there somewhere. I'm guessing an inch? Anyways I will hopefully raise the car up a little with the Ohlins to stop the car from rubbing( just a little, never saw any damage) with it loaded up with a passenger and stuff over bad bumps.

My setup was about 1 inch from tire to wheel arch (plastic) for front and rear. When i am with one passenger everything okay but full load (3 passengers) rear will rub over bad bumps.

I will try to raise another 0.5 inch to be safe, what do you think?

hey Guys,

Thanks for the advise on how to raise the ride hight. Managed to get it done today. I have setup to the standard preload from Ohlins and the measurement from right to left a few mm different, what is the best way to tackle this minor issue. Or is it okay to left?

Below is the measurement on my ride now?
Front Right - 635mm
Front Left - 640mm
Rear Right - 655mm
Rear Left - 650mm

Thanks.

From my experience your setup would not work with the optional MINI sports springs and shocks. The 225/45/17 R888s rub on the inside of the wheel well arch with 7" wide rims and 45mm ET. I know, this a OHLINS thread, but I toss this out there for consideration as rubbing is probably as much a function of spring and shock stiffness, as it is tire width, rim width and offset. The sports suspension is probably softer than yours, hence the rubbing issue I have.

the wheels are forged Rays 7.5" not sure of the offset.

Very sharp looking wheels

The tag says "OF +40"...seem that might be the offset?

Hey Guys, urgent help needed.

I have reset my Ohlins coil-over to the factory default ride height, where the front with 10mm and the rear 26 mm. Unfortunately this had result inconsistent ride height on my left and right. Has anyone experience this? is this a problem with the coil-over?

Yikes, maybe I should send my Ohlins back to Sweden

You must measure the springs from spring perch to spring perch to get the preload correct, I never heard of a bad Ohlins shock as the quality of these shocks is unmatched, NASA couldn't do better! I have however heard of user error.

Are you using the proper torque and strut nut sockets on the front shocks? If you're not then your shaft is spinning when you're torquring down you shock nuts.

i am terribly sorry for my stupidity. The ground in front of my house wasn't even. there is a slight slope and gradient. When i drove my car to a flat ground and re-measure it came out all good with the right and left matching each other. Thanks for the advice.

I do agreed that the coil-over is top notch and it does produce the consistent result. Thanks for all the help guys.

Since the R60 is significantly heavier and has different suspension geometry I doubt it. You'd need different springs for sure. www.ohlinsusa.com only shows R50, R53, and R56 applications.

These spring rates (70 and 50 N/MM, F and R respectively) seems to match pretty well with some other coil overs for the R60 though. So i guess like you said its all about suspension geometry. But if the attachments are the same I would think it would be doable.

Out of curiosity I looked at realoem.com to see if there were any common parts. The top mounts front and back are common to the R56 and R60, but you'd have to check if the strut length and diameter are the same, and what effect lowering the car would have.

Need Ohlins setup help

Got the Ohlins setup installed , I was hoping to reduce the harshness of uneven payment at speed in the Midwest. They seem to be better than what I had but there is still a pretty good jolt sometimes. Is there any recommended settings to help reduce the sharpness? It seems suspension settings can be counter intuitive.

It's difficult to remove all harshness because the Ohlins coilover system will not have any compression on light bumps as the shaft will not have any movement whatsoever unless you hit a moderate bump or imperfection on the road.

I have found that lowering my tire pressure from 38 to 34 psi makes all the difference in the world with regard to ride comfort!
