Non-Sport Suspension Struts... what are my options?

Hey guys, I just recentely picked up an 07 R56 S with the standard suspension on it. I've been reading quite a bit about the different lowering springs and how some believe the stock sport struts can handle it, and how others believe the best option is to do a full setup (Konis, etc.) I guess I should say that I will be looking for decent performance, but I DO want the car to look nice and low. Personally, I'm one to believe to do it correctly the first time so I am looking to get a few suggestions and/or answers.

Are there any lowering springs out there that are 'supposed' to work with the stock NON-sport suspension struts without provding a sub-par ride/handling? If so, which ones are they? I've been looking into H&R springs as well as NM Engineering springs, but a lot of the input around the board tends to focus on the sports suspension.

If there aren't any that are designd to work with the NON-sport suspension struts long-term, then I think it may be a wiser move to just purchase the H&R Touring Cup Kit.

Thanks in advance!

I ran with eibach springs for 15k before going to H&R RSS coilovers. The stock struts were toast.

On an '07, the stock shocks/struts were toast LONG ago. Adding lowering springs w/o replacing them would be crazy. Go with coilovers or a complete spring/shock replacement.

Great, this is the advice I was looking for. I am leaning more towards a spring/strut replacement to provide a better ride (this is a daily driver and will never be tracked) on the roads here. It looks like the Touring Cup Kit may be the best solution. The struts look to be relabeled Konis according to most. Sounds perfect.

I have to say that the factory struts are not worth keeping so don't let that hold you back on redoing the entire suspension. I am not comfortable with lowering my MINI do to some of the rough roads I travel.

I went with Bilstein HD struts and kept the factory springs. The ride is amazing and it's like driving a completey different car. Total cost through www.allshocks.com was under $540.00

Here is my post on the project. It's post #44:
