I want a very loud horn. I'm sick of not being noticed.

I would like to uprade my stock horns to something that will shake people up for cutting me off. I drive with 100watt driving lights during the day and not even that helps with all the rude drives. I love the Mini but I'm sick of people not seeing me. Can you tell me what some of you have done?
Mario

I'm with you. I need something cheap, easy, and lets not forget LOUD AS H-E-Double Hockey Stick.

I want a horn that is so startling, the offending motorists will momentarily lose bladder control and wet themselves.

Do a search there are tons of threads on this between Electric mods, int. ext. mods. and MINI talk.

Lots have added air horns and similar devices of some type. Some have even gone to truck horns or PA systems..

First off the MINI horn is 5x louder than a Honda horn (just for perspective) and about 3x louder than a Dodge Caravan horn. It's not going to make much difference how loud the horn as it's the size of the car (and personally I've never had any problem with being noticed, but I drive defensively) the prevents people from noticing you. Even with a tractor trailer rig air horn people will look around for it's source, but still won't necessarily see you.

My advice is to give other vehicles more room to be rude as nothing else will do the trick. If you don't like it then buy a big truck.

I know they will still cut me off and not see me but I want them to notice their mistake after I honk. The funny thing is the car isn't that small it is taller than my girlfriends M3, my friends Mcoupe and my roomates Viper. I'm not sure what the deal is.

I, like many others, have just simply accepted the fact that there are a lot of rude stupid people on the road. I too have thought of getting a louder horn, but too realize that it will do little to help. So I just give people their space (as already recommened).

What still burns me (and makes me think of getting that horn) are the ones that turn left in front me. There are days I am very glad I have bigger brakes. I am starting to wonder if people just can not gauge the speed of the MINI as it get closer.

Horn won't help. Missile launchers, maybe. Or a pair of roof-mounted MA-2s.

Lazer strong enough to ... Or drive an International CX2000 (the really big pickup).

Boneheads don't pull over for emergency sirens, think a horn would make a dent?

I put in a pretty loud horn and it doesnt make anyone drive less stupidly. Occasionally I do get the pleasure of seeing someone's very startled face when I honk at them, but most of the time they just sneer at me as if they knew that they were cutting me off and they are appalled that I have the nerve to honk at them for cutting me off. Or they hear the loud horn but just don't care as they expect to be honked at for driving like a jerkhead.

You are confused about the function, purpose and courtisies involved with auxillary lighting use on the street. Even though the box the came in probably stated clearly off road use only.....Making you one of those people, one of those rude people

Two locomotive horns and an air tank in the back. You WILL be heard, and probably scare people right off the road.
