Who is using a Fumoto Oil drain valve on your MINI ?

Or have you used one on another car or piece of equipment.
This is more or less a poll of everyone’s experience with Fumoto Oil drain valves.
Granted "Genuine Part" status by six major motor vehicle manufacturers in Japan.
Over 2,000,000 Engine Oil Drain Valves have been sold in the past eight years and no problems have been reported according to them.

I have one installed on my MCS and really like the convenience.
I don't sell them or have stock in the company just interested to see and hear who else is using them.

I got one from moss mini for less than the Fomoto web site sells them! Wasn't sure which vehicle I was going to try it out in but probably the next one that gets a change will get it....The Honda forum guys really speak highly of them.

Have you seen any oil weeping around that gasket?

I know there are mini owners using them but are not NAM members..their experiences have also been good.

And for BMW/MINI granting oem approved status to anything other than their own stuff, that will be the day! Honda has not and probably will not either...same"tude"goes over there too!

I love mine. I purchased the one with the nipple so that i can attach a flexible tube that runs thru the skid plate. Very nice. Its a snap to use. So much cleaner than getting oil all over my fingers when undoing the stock plug.

Bought it, installed it, love it.

Nothing is leaking or giving any grief at all.
I bought mine from FUMOTO direct.

Sure makes it easy to change your oil, NOW if someone would come up with a decent spin-on filter MOD.

Happy motoring.

I installed one at my last oil change. Next change is due in about 700 miles so I'll get to see how I like it then.

Relax, I posted there too, who cares?

None, no weeping or leaking at all. Being ****, I used teflon tape on the threads to.

Only regret I have is I didn't order the N version with a nipple , so I could just drain directly into old 5 quart plastic oil bottles.
The part about oil changes I have always hated was transferring the old oil from the drain pan back into jugs for disposal.

Don't worry. I posted my last response wrong, this thread doesn't need to be ignored rather check the other thread for additional replies on the subject.

I put one on my previous Cooper and it made oil changes a snap. I made sure to move it over to my MCS before selling the Cooper. I think that nipple idea is great--I never thought of using that for draining directly into the jugs. I thought the nipple ones were only good for those who couldn't access the valve like with extended stone shields.

Discussion of any topic is kind of like brain storming, new idea's pop up and get passed around.

You can get a 15 qt 5" high pan at walley worlds for about $7...a little (short) jump on the ramps and it fits under just fine. remember without the Skid Plate, the N ver sticks out a little further......Murphy's law lurks!

I can see the use for the N version if you have a skid plate though...otherwise, EXXON VALDEZE!!!

Just put mine on last weekend during the 6K mile oil change. No drips or seeps and you know it will be so much easier to change oil next time. Next time it goes to the dealer for the freebie change so I'm guessing they will know how to use the valve and not remove it. Perhaps I should check on this before.

But it's directly to the rear, it dosen't hang down.
Like I said before
If you hit anything it will be the oil pan that gets taken out not the Fumoto!
that wouldn't be very pretty
I know your kidding

Gotta take a look...I thought my 04 faced forwards...Or if Not....I could really punch it in reverse and grab something Wonder if they speed limited it in reverse....Not going to try either! (Like the newer Italian job movie!.......)

Funny...When I first got the 6 (always had 5 speed autos)speed, I was always finding R instead of first...a few embarrassing moments at lights were had...I was Lucky indeed!

Does this hang much below the pan? Any worries about hitting it on a bump?

The valve is totally behind the oil pan; it replaces the drain plug of course.

The valve lever has a safety detent; you have to push in the lever to be able to open it. I turned mine so the little valve lever is to the side.
It’s all SS and brass, when you cycle the valve you can tell it’s a precision quality piece.

The Fumoto valves work well for me in all my vehicles.
I speak out of passions for convenience, laziness, and easy no-spill oil changes -- not out of a desire to promote this company.

Sounds like then Fumoto (been resting on my bench ...Lazy) is going on the Mini next change...no negatives here so far, same on the Honda Element forum and has oem status on some vehicles. I check underneath often anyway and we shall see! Heck, it is cold on that garage floor this time of year ....even though I have an old area rug under the Mini! (for ME not the Mini!)

I had one on my last car and totally plan on getting one for my MCS. As someone said before the only regret I have about getting it is not getting the nippled version, which would make things way cleaner.

How did you guys do the install on the Fumoto?

It looks like you could just use a crescent wrench on the outside of the valve housing, but I think that the output hole (where the oil would drain out of) is a hex pattern... might be a safer solution.

Any thoughts?

As mentioned...Mine is still not installed but I just opened the pkg....The output hole housing is not hex on mine but round..thus it would seem that first HAND TIGHTEN...then snug up with a open ended box wrench...Hate cresent wrenches (even the good ones)...they always seem to loosen up and make a mess of what you are trying to tighten.....those who put them in already....your input would be of great assistance here !Filters are ordered and I am off to get some oil for the winter chg. Fumoto is ready to go!!!

Look at the INSIDE of the hole. The outer housing is round. It looks like an Allen wrench might fit right up inside (as to block the flow of outbound oil) to serve as an attachment mechanism for an installation/removal tool.
