Hydraulic motor mount leak
checked my passenger side motor mount last night, and happy to report that there are no visible signs of leakage anywhere. no i wonder where that loud clunk comes from whenever i floor it while powering out of a left hander. hmmm....
This is not true. They will replace it for 2 years/unlimited mileage only if you pay them for the parts/install. Otherwise if you get it replaced say at 45k under warranty, and it goes again at 55k, you have to change it yourself. That goes for any warrantied parts.

Not to muddy the waters any more, but my SA at the dealer told me any repair done under warranty carried a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty.
Obie blew the 'pressure cooker' at about 15k. Replaced under warranty, no q's asked.
Afterwards, I bought a TSW engine damper in hopes that it would take some of the stress off the cooker. Obie is at ~46k now, still on that 1st replacement cooker. Of course, this is no guarantee of anything, but, so far so good, as they say.
Question: Is the earlier '02 - '03 rubber biscuit style of engine mount interchangeable with the pressure cooker? IOW, can I replace my cooker with a biscuit if and when the next time it goes?

In my case I had it replaced 10 miles before my warranty was up and they told me the damper had a one year warranty, I hope your right, I hope it is two years.
I just experienced this issue with my '05 MCS
Having trouble cleaning the paint around the now replaced part . . . will test the isopropyl alcohol suggestion . . . its a shame because some of the stuff also splattered onto the otherwise clean engine.

I used engine degreaser with a rag and soft brush on the paint. I had to use a small brass brush on the engine. If you go with engine degreaser, I suggest orange smelling degreaser because your face will be right over the degreaser for a long time. Took me almost an hour to get everything clean.
Thanks . . . fyi I think the residual stuff maybe a bit more firmly baked into the paint on my car . . . but I'll soon be back at it with all of the aforementioned solvents giving it another shot.
The alcohol worked great on my engine, however.

Last night I noticed the little puddle on my garage floor, starting under the passenger side motor mount. There are also the telltale wet spots on the frame right under the mount. Mine made it to 55K+. It appears to have started in the garage, because there is no splatter on the car. I guess I will get by the local shop that works on Minis this afternoon and see what they say. Bah, humbug!
There's no puddle in my parking spot at work, so it did just happen. I didn't notice any difference in driving to work this morning

I talked to TSW today and after some more testing, they are making a few changes and hope to have the next test unit in hand by the end of the month. It all goes well I think we could start shipping them in Late May.
Is this a replacement for the entire fluid-filled stock motor mount? Is it the same type of unit, but with better design and/or manufacturing to prevent leaks? Different design with no fluid to leak?

Thinking about it. IF not I'll make sure to get you setup before MITM
I'll be keeping a close eye on this one. Although I know I dont have to say it, please keep us posted.
I had the passenger side HMM replaced in October 2007... Today I discovered that one has leaked onto the painted surface below it... Ugh.
I have the Extended 100,000 mile warranty. I hope they cover it under that. I just rolled over 90,000 miles.

That's truly truly lame that a simple component as a motor-mount lasts only 1-1/2. BMW/Mini should consider redesigning this crap using Duct tape.
Agreed... but I almost understand it judging by some of the god-AWFUL road problems here in NY... the Palisades Interstate Parkway has some real hum dinger disjointed road sections down around the Exit 13 area... I'm thankful I have the strut reinforcement plates but I know they cannot save the motor mounts...
Let's get GOING with the road repairs. Damn.
