Installed Wolo "Big Rig Long Horn" air horn

I finally installed the Wolo "Big Rig Long Horn" air horn. It is pretty obnoxious, just what I had in mind. I hate the usual high-pitched horns.

It has 2 trumpets- 11 and 12 inches, which barely fit under the bumper, and are slightly visable throught the lower grill, but I don't mind since they are symmetric and red. Here is the audio clip from their site: http://www.wolo-mfg.com/417.wav

I will post pics of the install later, came out nice and clean.

One of my biggest disappointments in my MINI (this will give you an idea of how satisfied I am ) was the inexcusably dull, boring, plain vanilla horn. Sheesh - do I want to sound like my father's Oldsmobile?

I went the Road Runner route ("meep meep") but can appreciate the Big Rig route, too. (Or any other horn, besides stock!) Lookin' forward to your pics!

That's awesome. No, I only honk at the jerks who cant drive and swerve in my lane or cut me off. Which usually happens every day, but since I've put in the horn hasnt happened once! I'm eagerly waiting with my finger on the horn button for someone to slip. "Get off the road grandma! Get off your damn cell phone! Use your blinker! I've got the right of way jerkoff!" Muahahahah. I can't wait to honk!

Here are some pics of the finished install. Sorry, I didnt feel like dropping the bumper again, but it shows how it looks now.

Trumpets barely visable (I like it):

And if the red got on your nerves, it wouldn't take much to drop the bumper, scuff the trumpets and paint them flat black.

Like what you did.

Now I'm wondering if something like that will fit under a stock bumper...

No, I think that I like the red. Adds some subtle color, like brake calipers. I feel like since I've installed the horns people haven't been cutting me off so much though. It's like they know and are scared or something. I just want to honk!!!

Totally different sound with those though. Pretty high-pitched. I would very strongly reccommend listening to audio clips of air horns before purchasing them, some of them are pretty anoying, but if you look hard you should be able to find some that suit your taste. The manufacturer often puts sound clips on their websites.

Yea I was just noticing that it didn't have a sound clip anywhere. And like you said most of the manufacturers have sound clips on their websites. Thanks for the heads up though.

I bet if you called moss that they could tell you the manufacturer and you could find a clip.

Nice install.

Used to have a real air horn on on a Datsun in SoCal. I had to get rid of it, people would hear it and "Oh *****, I am about to get hit by a Simi, I had better run that Datsun off the road!"

Let us know how it works for you!

Jim

I haven't caused any confusion yet. It is deep and obnoxious, but obviously not a semi horn. It seems to get their attention without strinking fear. Now if I did the whelen horn/PA combo that MSFITOY has, it would be a different story. He said that when he honks people look around for the fire truck. I'm a bit jealous, but even though my horn doesnt quite fit the MINI image (my goal) it still obviously comes from my car.

I would be interested in the Stebel Air horn too, has anyone installed it and how did it work? This is a nice compact horn compared to the others that I have seen. Does anyone know of a sound bite of this horn to see what it sounds like?
