weird window problem

Today I parked the my 05 MCS in the garage and went in the house for about 30 minutes. Next time I went into the garage both windows were down about 1/2 of the way. No one had been in the garage, and both windows were down exactly the same amount.

Any theories??

Window

You may have pressed the key a little longer or without noticing I've done it before. NO ghosts

Windows

Hold down the key to unlock the door and your windows and sunroof should open.

exact same thing happened to me today... the windows were down slightly and the sunroof was open a tad too. I thought to myself, I must have pressed the key while I was standing around waiting for the wife's Honda Pilot. Either that or we have visitors...

Remember be quiet... they are watching us...

This happened to me every day for a couple weeks. My condo is directly above my garage, and my parking spot at work is just on the other side of the wall. Everytime I went out to my car the windows were down. I was so confused. The dealer deactivated the automatic window down option for me. I guess my pants are too tight becuase the problem was solved.

^^^

I guess you aren't the only one whose pants are too tight. I understand MINI has discontinued the "convenience opening" feature.

Mine must be deactivated because no matter how long I hold the unlock button, it won't roll down. I understand the dealers are not programming new cars with this feature but can I have them activate it on mine?

You'll have to ask your dealership if they can.

Also, even if you do not have convenience opening, you still have convenience closing - hold your key in the locked position outside the MINI, and the windows+sunroof close.

This must be something new or you have the circuit board option because the MINI key does open the windows if programed, but has NEVER closed them.

Well, it may be new with the 05's. You have to put the key in the lock, and hold it in the locked position. Not the buttons - the buttons (sadly) do nothing on mine. Turn the key - hold.

The key in the door and hold in lock position works on all mini's. It works on my '03.

I was recently painting my house, about 12 feet up on a ladder, my MCS parked out at the end of the drive to avoid any splatter. As I leaned against the ladder for balance, the windows and sunroof of my previously locked and closed car began to open. No it wasn't a ghost in the machine, just a little pressure on the open button caused by my balancing act. Scooby and Shaggy weren't even needed, although I'd not make that remark regarding Daphne.

This must be done on the second click of the unlock button. The sun roof will also open, if you have one.
