How come my exhaust tips in my new 2005 MCS do not get the black soot build up like my old 2002 MCS did. Did MINI change the tuning and or the cat/exhaust? Do all 2005 keep thier tips clean?

You're probably not pressing the accelerator all the way down enough times a day.
For the entire 8,000 miles since my '05 was delivered they've gotten sooty. Furthermore, my son has followed me a few times and commented on dark "smoke" when accelerating. So clearly the car is running rich. I'm guessing that the most likely variables are: fuel and programming.
I am thinking Mini made a running change, my car has a 6/05 build date. I will be bring my car to Eric @ Helix shortly to do a pulley and GIAC software. He will have to look into it further as it may require an update to the GIAC code.

Prior to my JCW upgrade my 2002 did get some, but not much, carbon showing on the exhaust tips. But after the JCW upgrade it never came back, my pipes are always clean now
