While driving , it died then turned on.....HPFP?

Been having issues with the HPFP. Dealer replaced it and I have done it twice after within a year. I did the fuel filter on the third HPFP. It was running fine for about 2 months and it has been shutting off. No misfires, no codes no warning. All I do is just turn it off and pull the key, then reinsert the key and start it. Sometimes it takes 2-3 tries. But it runs fine after that. It's fun when it happens on the freeway :( Wondering if the fuel pump relay is going bad. I tested it and it clicks fine. Replacing anyways. Also thinking about the in-tank fuel pump. maybe trying to figure out how to fit a Walbro in the assembly. Ridiculous that they only sell the assembly with the level sending unit. Let me know what you all think. Thanks

checked it and looks good. I have the hardtop, no sunroof. I will be bypassing the fuse board with an external relay to test for a couple of Weeks. If it works, I’ll source a bew board if it works.

I got you...what about the battery terminals, did you check if they're tight?

Bought it from Detroit tuned. Should be here in a few days. Car left me stranded on the interstate. Jumpered the fuel pump and it does not run. So, I ordered the DW65v pump and hopefully this will end my current nightmare.

I personally have no knowledge on how to replace said part but hope it works out for you! Fingers crossed it solves your problem. Keep in mind this is for the fuel pump sending unit to the HPFP, just making sure you know and did your DD as Detroit Tuned doesnt allow return for said item. Good luck, heavy eyes here.

Ran into a few issues while attempting this project. Found oout the hard way that Mini uses a returnless fuel delivery system. Mini to Be can shed some light iff I'm wrong... the in tank fuel pump with cycle on/off to maintain fuel pressure to the HPFP. While hooking up the external relay, I T'd off the DME signal wire and grounded the other end. This unfortunately ran the fuel pump continuously and eventually died. I ordered from Detroit Tuned the Deuschwerks but unfortunately, it came broke from the factory and they're being good about sending me a replacement one. The relay, I will be connecting the coil side it in series with the DME signal wire (green-violet wire) which is always hot (energized). From looking at the diagram, the DME controls the relay by grounding this signal. Will be finishing up the install next week and feeling good about this project. Will be posting soon.

Had to bite the bullet and took it in to a Mini specialist. They found the JBE was bad, relays were not sending a signal to the pump to start. Tried an outside relay to go in line with the JBE, long story short, the tech told me it was clever but the computer is looking for signals at certain voltages etc... So new JBE and all good now.
