Broken Hood Release
Broken Hood Release
I've searched this forum and everything seems to relate to getting access to the passenger side. The passenger side opens, I can't get the drivers side latch to open. Do any of you know if its the same procedure, do I take the wheel well cover off on the drivers side? Can't check on the engine work that I just did, need to check for leaks and top off and bleed my cooling system...thanx
More info here:

But yes remove the driver side wheel well in the front and reach up and get it. I long skinny flat head helps also.

Before you tear the car apart, have you had someone pulling up on the hood as you pull the hood release?
Once you get it open I may recommend replacing the latch just for the fact of; lubricating them never really fixes the problem for long.

I will give that a shot today when I get home.thanx
Try that and watch those rusty cables, mine was stuck and lifting up and pushing down did not help. I slid a very flat screwdriver on the gap between the hood and the bumper, i nicked up the hood on the underside, so if you do be careful.

My cables exit the fire wire just to the right of the passenger side hood hinge. The driver side cable then goes behind the plastic liner in front of the metal firewall, behind the brake booster and than back out into the engine compartment to the latch.
Would assume that if you take off the trim inside below the glove compartment you would see the cables connected to the pull lever. Wondering if one fell off.

Yes it could have popped out, check that also. You brought up a good point.

As it turned out, while I was doing work in the engine bay, I must have pushed against the cable connected to the hood release, no rust or anything like that. I was able to release the hood latch on the drivers side by just removing the front wheel and the fender cover, once that is remove, the latch is right there and accessible. I put the cable back in place and all is right with the world...
Thanks for the update, glad it was simple, thats the best part.
