I need help! Hood release has failed. The cable is slack AND the white cable 'stay' is exactly where is should be, see attached pic. Can anyone help me? I really want to open my hood!

I had that happen to mine. The way you need to do this is from underneath. As you look straight up around the areas of the latches, you can see where the lever that is controlled by the cable is located. I was able to take a long rod and move that lever and pop the hood. You do not need to take anything apart other than go from underneath. You need a good light and take your time. It took me quite some time but I did get it eventually.
