Clunks on bumps

I have a 2007 R56 with 160k miles that clunks when going over bumps. I jacked up the car an tried shaking wheels and lifting them with a pry bar to see if there is noise or movement from suspension bushings and didn't find anything. Bouncing on the corners of the car doesn't clunk. I guess it could be engine mounts but how do I check them? Anywhere else to look? Any suggestions?
Thanks

Have you checked for a loose exhaust pipe?

What is the best way to check the sway bar bushings? I have tried moving them but don't know if that is enough.

Strut mounts may be torn, struts may be worn.

Is the clunk at the front or the back of the car?

I'm beginning to see a lot more of the gen 2 cars in for front sway bar bushings causing a clunk in the front.

But as for the rear; it could be anything from failed end links to sway bar bushings or shock top bushings.

I would say end links or sometimes the hatch lock adjustment on the back, the front it can be the upper mounts or the endlinks/ball joints.

Following, mine is doing the same at seemingly all 4 corners. It's driving me nuts, but I just dumped a cars worth of money into this thing so I can't even dream about fixing it until the weather is nice again.

Good advice from all above. At 10+ years and 160K miles you need to check every piece of rubber in the suspension. Good chance that the shocks are worn out as well. My rough guess at where to start:
1) sway bar bushings front, then rear
2) front shock top mounts
3) front shocks
4) rear shocks
5) front, then rear end links
6) front control arm bushings
7) front ball joints

Fortunately most of these aren't big $ for parts and you can do the work yourself if you aren't scared of a socket wrench set.

I have similar issues with my 2007 at 100K....

My shocks were bad and when I replaced them/rebuilt the struts... a lot of the noise went away although I still have a few rattles and clunks left. My heavier NM engineering rear sway has always made more noise and the Polyurethane Sway bar bushings don't help and need grease or it squeaks!! IMO... my car at this age is allowed a few rattle and squeak!! That means it is still running!

Thanks for all the suggestions. Next question ... what is the best way of checking if any of these parts are bad? I have tried going over the suspension and can't find any thing wrong but maybe I am not checking it correctly.
