starting to notice that any CD i put in there after like the 7th track, the player skips whenever i hit a bump. is this the limitations of the factory stereo? this is really
irritating.

i should get a alpine changer and hook that up.NEVER had skipping issues on my
alpine on my other cars.

My 03 cd player and changer NEVER once have skipped...and I've hit a few bumps...especially with the 17" wheels...

Go talk to your dealer. They don't skip on any other cd player corect?

haf

I did have this same problem after about one month or two. You might report it to your dealer if it continues. The CD player is an Alpine unit.

I did replace my CD player with an aftermarket unit. And no problems since
Nakamichi CD-400.

Good luck

Are you playing CD-Rs? Some CD-Rs have a tendency to skip, but I've never had a skip on original CDs. If it's skipping on originals I'd mention it to the dealer.

yah, i tried a brand new CD purchased from the store and also other CD's that i have that hadn't skipped on any other CD player. actually, the CDR was working
better than the ones i bought. ???!!! totally confused.

its really bad at around track 10+. cant listen to music, but rather skip noises
and pretty bad. if i wasn't moving or no bumps, the cd plays ok.

the CD's have no figer prints. doesn't skip without any bumps.

btw, where are you guys buying the Blitzsafe Adapters? i think im going to
just go with the Alpine changer (CHA-S634) since i have the multi-function
steering wheel.

I have the HK system on my 03 MCS, but I believe the in-dash CD unit is the same as standard stereo unit. Had my car for 22.5 k mi since January, and never had a skip, even though the roads here in TX are horiffic. Got 16" runflats on my car.
The CD shouldn't skip, unless it is a copy or self-birned one. I have heard reports some of these may have a tendency to skip. Otherwise I would take it to the dealer.

Just had my CD player changed out after 4 months. The CD player acted as if there was a CD inside and wouldn't accept a new CD. Radio worked fine. New CD player works OK but occasionally will skip on a very rough surface. IMO the head units aren't all that good.

kenchan- What you are describing isn't a normal skip but a kind of continuous laser slip. Looks like your unit may need changing out under warrenty. Even if you're looking to purchase an aftermarket unit I would still wait until MINIUSA exchanges your present unit so you have. (if you ever sell your car, heaven forbid, you can change back to the original unit and keep your aftermarket).

I'm glad you posted this! The '03 cooper never skipped, but the '04 skips more frequently.

if i didn't have the multi-function steering wheel, i would just swap out the headunit.

but now, i can't figureout where to buy the blitzsafe adapter so might just
swap it out to a better alpine unit anyway.

I had similar problems with a Pioneer unit. Although mine had been abused for a long time. The lazer would lose its track and get stuck. If the lazer is not mounted properly or tracking properly it would cause the unit to be unstable. Get it replaced.

yah, i'll probably get it swapped out during my next oil change.

i got a blitzsafe adapter, alpine 6cd changer with MP3 compatibility
and the m-bus adapter on its way, so by tomorrow night, my
problems will be 99% over.

the dealer's cool about it too, just asked me real politely to make
an appointment with their service manger when i get a chance.
as long as i can listen to cd's i have no issues...plus now, i can
listen to my mp3's. hehehe.

If you get a deck with remote control, you can still use the MSFW to control it by installing a SWI-X adapter.

mine skips when it wants to - with either cd-rs or commercial discs (no preference) and usually on a smooth surface. it probably happens once every two weeks or so.
