2007 MCS R56 with sunroof rear view mirror water leak

Hello. For a month I'm trying to find a solution for my problem on all of the forums but noone is having the solution how to fix this. After every rain when the car is parked over night the car is leaking water through a rear view mirror. Can anyone help me cause it's driving me crazy!? I tried putting insulating tape right over the black rubber (bitween the roof and wind shield) thinking maybe it will solve the problem, but still there is water dipping. :( I also tried sipping water into the drain tubes on the sunroof the water is coming out as it's suppost to do. Does anybody else had this problem and did he/she solved it?? I would appriciate any help. Thank You!

I'm only guessing here because I don't know the answer. Water might be coming out of the drain tubes but apparently not as fast as the water is falling on your roof. My thought is the tubes might be 'partially' blocked. I'm not familiar with the sun roof on a Mini but is there a way of running a line through the drain tubes to completely open them up and let them flow more freely?

I'll try that for sure but still don't know how to fully reach the drain tubes. I've seen a video on youtube. The guy reached them but on a r53 MC and I can't reach them his way. Any ideas?

Sounds like the drain tubes, If there are clogged the water will over flow in the sunroof cassette and dip down the headliner and comes out near the mirror. If they came off , they leak onto the headliner then near the center mirror and side a Pillars. You will have to remove the front A pillar cover on the interior and get behind there. To clean them , you can pop them out and shoot compressed air down the body mounted metals tubes to flush them out.

Here is a diagram and list from another thread I posted on:

Check the to cassette where the water drains in the corners. Sunroof drain tubes. They can clog with debris and such. There are two in the front and two in the rear. Also if they are clean and look ok the drain tube might be leaking. You have to get behind the headliner and A pillars to see. Since its in the front you will want to check #2 connection as the problem.

For Gen 2 R55 R56 MINI models , they have they same general set up as the Gen 1. Check the connection at the hose to the tray and also check to see if debris clogged the sunroof tray near the hose connection.

You are welcome.
This is usually a fall / spring problem ( leaves and trees dropping stuff ) as junk gets into the tube.

I had same problem a couple a years ago... when the car was not being used due to motor issues so it sat for long periods and leaked into the car(what a mess to clean up). I used a vacuum to suck out the drain tubes at the rear hatch and on top at the drains.... fixed it.... be very careful trying to run anything down the drain like a snake as you are more likely to knock drains off making even more work to fix. FYI... once you open the drains... test each one by carefully pouring water down each drain in sunroof cassette and watch it exit at rear or front outlets.....
