multiple misfire in mid rev ...

Im wondering if anyone has had this problem or who can help me out. My MINI is a 2002 Mini Cooper S. Ive been having quite a few misfires (3 or 4) and my MINI seems to lag under medium acceleration (approx 3000 rpm). Ive had the head changed in the spring of 2012 due to a spark plug that flew out of the block. There are no check engines, no codes to be read. I have even tried to change different tier level gas stations (always keeping it at 91 octane) with no help at all.

As I can recall the best, I did not have this problem before my head being changed.

Normal acceleration it doesn't seem to hesitate, even in stop and go situations. Even when standing on the gas and going all out. Like I sais, its more around 3000 rpm.

Has this happened to anyone or does anyone have a clue what this could be?

Thanks alot guyz

On gen1 cars the #3 connector on the ignation coil does corrode faster. It will have rust on it. Check it out.

Do you have hard-start problems? If so, check your fuel pressure. Misfires usually pop light & codes, yours don't. Read this saga, you may not have same issue, but the journey I went thru to hunt down my 1-of-a-kind fault might help you.

My issues started w/ much like yours & gradually worsened to hard-starting.
Just google:
Morning Hard Starts & Now, 1-3k RPM Hesitation/Yoyo/Hiccup

The alliance site won't register in this forum, for some reason. I thought you knew what I meant.

It should take you there. I explored all suspects: plugs, wires, BPV, vacuum, fuel pressure, filter, pump. In between all these, my harmonic damper failed on me on the road. Again, try going thru each by elimination. Don't expect you to see what I saw in mine though.

How many miles do you have on the clock? Start testing the BPV by zip tying it down. If it cures it, either change the spring or go w/ the DetroitTuned BPV. Change to new OEM wires & replace your decade old fuel filter, these are maintenance items anyway. It would also be good to check your belt, tensioner damper & harmonic damper along the way. Injector cleaners like Techron, BMW Fuel System Cleaner PN:82140413341 would help if fuel & injectors are the problem, but cylinder misfires almost always throw the SES/DSC lights & show misfire codes. Do these 1 @ a time.

How to know what the code #
You need a code scanner. You can take the car to AutoZone/Advance Auto/ PEP boys etc.. and they will read it for free. IF you go to the dealer they will charge you for it. Pop the hood check all plugs and wires as that would be a good place to start. Once you have the codes we can help you with answers.

I have the code !! P0302 ( P0302 Cylinder 2 Misfire Detected ) ... So i delete the check engine and scrub each connection on the coil pack ... For now no check engine and no misfire ... Maybe it was a bad connection ...
