fixed air bags / shop ran car outofgas,now won't start!

A month ago I slide on some ice, hit a curb , popping some air bags. got the car fixed local ($$$$) Trucked the car to Chicago and back to reset the air bag module (10 minute job). The local shop/trucker/ Patricks ran the car out of gas and/or drained the battery down, Back in Clinton IA the shop realized the lack of gas ,poured some in, now the car won’t start. Hope its just a flooded engine after cranking with a low battery. But it did crank? Tomorrow after sitting on a charger drying out I hope it fixes itself . Is there anything else I should look for? Fuses are OK. I am soo bummed. MINI needs more dealers (or allow BMW dealers to work on safety systems)

Usually when a FI car runs out of gas, the FI system needs to be purged.
I'm not sure if Mini has this ability or not.
At least it's a starting point to check out.

You may need a new fuel pump. If not now then later since running dry on on older pump will usually lead to near term failure.

I can hear the pump run then pump up and stop before I try to start it

Not sure about the MINI but some cars have a "reset" button in case of accidents to prevent more fuel from being sent thru and causing an engine fire.

Since your fuses are all good, I'd suspect some kind of reset switch or button if that's the case just don't know where it'd be located.

no button reset needed because I drove the car after the bags blew after we waited about an hour, (wouldn't start at first but the car reset itself)then they continued to drive the car around while being fixed until they ran it out of gas.

We went to Willis in Des Moines Sat , very nice. But the bodyshop has used Patrick Mini for all the parts and service so far ,so we needed to continue that way, for the insurance bills . Good luck ,it shouldn't be too much.My car could have accident related issues and I shouldn't try anything on it until its sorted out.

If it's not your clutch neutral switch, then try re-pressurizing your fuel line....check out the DYI thread on "fuel filter replacement", it's better explained there.

what happened? as far as I know;

Ran out of gas, ran battery down, put in some gas, flooded engine, fouled plugs, burned up starter

getting the gasy oil changed, hope they won't screw that up
