Couple of concerns 06 R53

ok i have a couple of concerns (as of now) about my 06 R53 bought used a couple weeks ago with 23K miles

1. there is a deep whiny sound which seems to be coming from the right rear wheel?

2. and the TPMS light popped on 2wice...once when a buddy of mine was driving and he checked the tire pressures and they were off by quite a bit, he then fixed the tire press. and on my way home from the store today a hit a small bump on the fwy at about 65-70mph and a few seconds later the TPMS sensor came on, checked the pressures all was good, so i hit the reset and the light went back off
anyone experience this before?

thanx

I experienced the issue with the tire light... it happened during MTTS in Miami.. we were on the interstate, so I reset it.. and it seemed fine.. until they were lining the cars up to drive through the city. It ended up being a screw in the drivers rear tire. Members of my awesome motoring club, plugged it.. and it has been fine since.. Have you inspected the tires? to make sure you have nothing causing a slow leak..

I've had a few false alarms from the system on my 06 MCS. When I get one I pull over when it is safe to do so, then I do a walk around & look at the tires. I do not have RF tires so a low one is able to be seen.

9 times out of 10 my tires were fine. The tenth time on the way to work the light goes off on the way to work at 5:30am. I stop & do my walk around with a visual look see. All is well so I continue to work. At noon when I head to lunch my right rear tire is flat. Yep that sensor must be damn accurate. It could sense the very beginnings of a flat tire. Now when I get that warning I'm sticking a gauge on the tires to make sure.

Long winded answer to your question. Short one is yes that appears to be normal behavior for the system.

Good idea!
If you're gonna go with non-runflats, I'd recommend carrying a tire pressure gauge.

Always carry one, just have to remember to use it the dern thing.

I bought a very nice Accu Tire Gauge from Outmotoring. Highly reccommended.

thanx for the input, i did check the tires last night, but it was dark, so i will have to check it again while the sun is still out, i hope i dont have a puncture just because i just got the car

then again it might be a great excuse to purchase a set of aftermarket wheels

Unfortunately, if you experience a blow out in your non-RF tires, no amount of canned tire goo is going to do you any good.

Most people switching the RFs to standard radials don't think about the possibility of a blow out (Which odds of it happening stack against regular radials than RFs).

I had OEM Dunlop R/Fs when I got the car and constantly had problems with false alarms. I would stop and check the air pressure and it was ok. This would happen four or five times a week, sometimes that many a day. The dealer couldn't find any problem so I lived with it until 23K and put on non R/Fs and the problem went away. Go figure!!
