Help to get radio station names to show

Does anyone know how I can get the names of the radio stations to show on my radio display (2009 cooper S/ no sat radio) ? For some reason I can almost swear that they did show up when I bought the car but now all I see is that station number.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Make sure you've got the button under RDS pushed and selected.

note too that not all stations broadcast this info so if you are not listening to the same station it just might not be in the signal. Some stations also show the song that's playing by title and artist.....

I got these instructions from a post somewhere and it worked for me but I can make no guarantee .

I posted this and then realized that you were talking about station info and the fix below was to show the correct genre.

Sorry

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Please read these instruction completely before attempting this. there are timing issues in some steps to make this work

1. Insert Key (fob) into Ignition
2. Turn Radio OFF by pressing the volume button.
3. Turn Radio ON by pressing the volume button.
4. With in 8 seconds press and hold the manual tuning button (the one with the m on it)
5. Press and release the button under the + sign in the screen a number of time until the "AREA" screen shows up.
6. Press the button under USA.
7. Press the volume button to turn off the radio.
8. Press the volume button to turn the radio on.
9. Check your stations.

Is it not showing any station names? Try using the manual tuning mode and see if the station name/ID shows up under the "curve" of frequencies.

oops, I didn't do much testing, evidently the station I listen to just doesn't display that, every other station does.

In Norfolk I got full info from the station I listened to ('cept the spousal unit thought that stuff in the display was distracting....interesting point)

Down here in out back Florida no station I listen to broadcasts the info......
