Engine is making weird sound...im sick of this

08 Sept production MCS. 2400 miles. Spanking new.

Engine is making whistling/buzzing sound. Just listen since video sucks and you may get motion sickness. It is from my BB phone so it sucks.
I also got the cold start sound again for the 3rd time. Of course I cant reproduce it. I may want to just crash this car and total it and claim insurance.

And what's with the clatter? Is that a diesel?

As to your whistling problem, is there a loose vaccuum hose, or air intake clamp?

Did you see your dealership yet?

engine noise

My MC sounds pretty much like that clackety clack and only whistles/whines when accelerating (gear whine???). Can't say I've been impressed, but I haven't had any death rattles (not sure if any base MCs have).

I say drive it 'til it breaks.

Car is going in tomorrow. Im basically gonna drive this car to death and have lots of fun. If it is going to break, Im gonna make it break early so that the warranty covers it. Let the pistons and turbo work to its maximum.

But geez... maybe it is a hose leak.. good guess cuz the pitch of the sound is constant and it comes and goes...

MIne sounds the same, without the whistle, 32k miles. The tapping is normal. Most likely we are hearing the injectors, as they are under much higher pressure than the injectors on an engine that injects fuel before the cylinder.

Don't know what the whistle is, but it's probably not the end of the world, and probably won't cause engine failure. My guess is it's an accessory (ac, alternator, etc)making the noise. Let us know what it is if they find out.

The Mini operating manual says tht you should not warm up the engine before driving. Do you get the same noise if you press start and immediately begin to drive?

Stealer told me "SPECIAL ORDER NEW WATER PUMP"

Sounds great. New car. Water pump issue?? is that what the whistling and hissing sound was? Well.. as long as they fix it i dont care. I wanna take my car to a track event!!!!!! with that sound.. i dont think inspection will pass for me to go on the small track.

If you started the MINI up cold with that sound it's not the water pump.

my clubman S (08 Aug production) has done that a few (4 or 5) times as well. I find if I stop the car and start it again (once or twice) it goes away. All of the times it's happened to me were after I've started the car, drove a VERY short distance (like to move to wash the car) and then started it later.

I figured it was part of the "cold start" issue.

I've reported to my SA
