R56 Software changes/fixes needed thread
Electric Mirrors should fold in when doors are locked and you walk away. (They are not usefully for anything else they so maybe the cool factor of auto folding would do)
Heated mirrors should turn on when the rear defroster is on. (To remove the southern morning dew.)

Heated on defrost sounds good too. Another car I have does this. I've never experienced frost on the Mini's mirrors yet but it's always garaged. One of these days it might get a temporary slumber out in the cool air.
It would be nice to have the program option though.
Agreed. The thought of my mirrors being heated while driving in 90* heat in the summer is ludicrous.
Per page 36 of my '04MCS manual:
Electric heating*
Both mirrors are heated automatically when the ignition key is in position 2

Edit: It does appear that for the R56 they only turn on below a 'certain limit', though it doesn't say what that limit is.

I think it'd be interesting if, in the readout located in the speedomoter, you could display other info in addition to the great OBC info already available. There are even a few empty slots when you flip to that section. So what if you could display water temp, oil pressure, or other items (that we commonly use gauges for). I mean...that info is in the ECU somewhere, what if you could get it to come up in the speedo readout? And......what if you could toggle (even at a selected duration) between critical readouts of choice. A feature like this could be offered as an option...lots of folks would probably be very interested.
I know lots of folks think of this as the radio and complain about the R56 head-unit being in the speedo. It's not that way, though...I display OBC info there all the time as I have a preferred setting for the tach display for primary info. The secondary display/readout is brilliant and, imo, could be put to even greater use.

You can turn the AC off, by simply pushing the AC (snowflake) button. I think you mean the auto temperature control... Well, it's not an on/off function, it's on, auto air control, auto temp contol with auto air off, then off. They would have to split those into two buttons to do that.

A couple of other things to make life a little nicer....temperature gauge, oil pressure gauge, both can be included in the OSD if necessary. Would also love it if I could adjust the delay on the intermittent wipers. When it's just a mist, either the wipers chatter because the windshield's not wet enough, or you need to keep turning them off and on.

In the R53 you could turn on the auto climate control system (AC & fan) by simply pressing auto. Turning it off so that you could open the windows was just as simple... you just pressed auto.
In the R56, to turn my climate control off, I seem to have to press the snowflake button, and then turn the fan all the way down. Maybe I am missing something, but this doesn't make sense.
I am not sure that I understand.

It puts the idiot light/chime system in the MINI to utter shame
Add to that a real water temp gauge.
#7. Actually, I prefer that the wipers revert to "off" when you start the car, at least in the winter. If your wipers are frozen to the windshield when they come on, the link to the wiper motor may break and you will be stranded. That happened with my old civic (fortunately when I was at home), but it was a major pita to fix.
CD-Text (Artist/Track Names) from Audio CDs when using the Base/Hi-Fi stereo w/o the Nav instead of just the track number.
It shows up on the Nav screen, so the head unit can read it, and you get Artist/Track Names when you put an MP3 CD in, so the head unit can display it. Put the two together and it's Peanut Butter Jelly Time!
Seriously though people, it can't be that hard. My 328i loaner car has what appears to be the same head unit, and it displays CD-Text for audio CDs just fine.

CD Text DOES display just fine. BUT, not all CD's have CD Text on them!! THAT, is the problem. Why in the world ANY record company today releases a CD without the CD text on it, is beyond me, but they amazingly they still do. It costs nothing, it's a check box when you burn the CD.
I've tried it w/ discs I know have CD-Text (store bought, and burned) and nothing displays on my Navless MCS. See about halfway down this thread.
