Huh?? Almost every car made today had auto-up windows. The motors have anti-squeeze technology, if something blocks it, it reverses. And the new MINI's. late 2007 and all 2008 have auto up.

What was the cutoff for 2007 models to get it? I thought everyone who did get it were military men and women stationed off shore. I hadn't heard of anyone here with an 07 getting auto up.

It's not that Mini couldn't have done it for 07, they just didn't choose to offer that feature. The 1st gen cars had lots of features they ripped out for 07, like adjustable seat belt height, gauge packs, etc. There is no perfect car for everyone. There will always be a "changes/fixes needed" thread.

Chevrolet and Toyota don't seem to have them yet. I've got a '02 Corvette and a 2008 Toyota and neither of them have the auto up feature.

Birdman, i have to disagree with the anti-squeeze on the 2008 mini. I had one as a loaner last month.

I did the auto up and tried to see if it would stop if i put some resistance on it, it would not stop. So i took a pencil and did it, the pencil was nearly crushed before it stopped and did not back up.

My 07 did the same thing, do not know if mine counts as late it was born in june 25 07

Depends on the model. Both my current and previous Toyotas (2006 and 2000) had auto-up, but only on the driver's window. Will be nice having it on both sides in my forthcoming 08 MC.

As I've posted here and many other threads...
I asked MINI USA about a "fix" for our discontent of the lack of a one touch up for the power windows. There answer was that there is no update, nor do they plan one. The dealer here in Pittsburgh also said that they would have to get permission from MINI if one was so bold to try to buy the parts/software from an '08 and have them put it on an '07.
I'm afraid we are just plain SOL.
Oh, and by the way, it's ~ $3,000 loss if you want to trade your 2500 mile '07 up to a new ordered '08. (and that's my $20K '07 sticker up to a $24K '08 sticker)

i guess mini wants to teach fingers a lesson just short of amputation. otherwise if some fancy luxury car backs off at the slightest resistance, you'll never learn.

i'm finally starting to lose my auto-up window habit acquired from previous cars. there's something satisfying in holding that switch 'till the bitter end.

I have the auto up and down windows and it's not everything it's cracked up to be. You have to toggle the switch very quickly to get the window to move just a little, and even then it's tricky. It's not like there's a detent that you go past to make it go all the way up or down.

I don't care for the auto down either. It's very tricky to get the window down just an inch or so. It always goes into the auto down mode and I have to hit back up right away to stop it.

I don't want auto up either. I would much rather have manual windows. I hate power ones.

On another note....

I'm sure you'll figure it out, My Z3 was a bit touchy too, but I must say with a stick shift, the one touch up should be standard.

The other thing is the positioning of the switch. The rack of switches in the console is cute, but down by my ankle to put the window down or up? and you have to use your right hand, isn't that the one I need for the gear shift and, with the awesome close ratio six-speed, I'm usually shifting into 2nd before the window is all the way up. OK OK OK I whine too much..

But all in all, I do like the car, I just would like to have the company make it simple if I want to pay to get some updates done to the car.

It would be nice to be able to repeat songs on the CD/CDC/USB... or is this already available and I just didn't see it?

I'm gonna have to go the other way on this one. When every car in my household does it, it is a pain to sit in my car and hold the flipping switch. It is annoying, and people who ride in my car complain about it. I don't understand why MINI can't use the same switch mechanism that everyone else uses where the window works as normal until you push the switch to a pressure point that would engage the auto-up/down. This bothers me the most of any feature my car lacks. I don't get why other more advanced "features" are included on this car, but this tiny little thing if left off. Boo, MINI. Someone dropped the ball on that one.

I will also second the fact that there is no safety mechanism to prevent "things" from being closed in the windows. My friend was curious of this the other day, and he proceeded to close the window on his water bottle. Needless to say, the window kept going...

Totally Agree

But I doubt MINI will do anything for us except tell us to "trade up" to an '08, or newer, which have the feature. In fact, they told me they won't. (see other posts) Truthfully, there's nothing else out there that gets 40 MPG AND has Xenon lights. (I actually assumed it had one touch up since it was a BMW company, silly me)
By the time I'm at an "even trade" allowance, I'm hoping other manufacturers offer these qualities, if they do, I'm going away from MINI.

This may have been mentioned but I have recently noticed that the windows to not go back up all the time when the door is opened.

It drops down past the seal then stays down, so you have to manually raise it .

I have an '08, but that same annoyance is still there with the sunroof switch. Maybe the '09 models will get one-touch-open and -close on the sunroof as well as the windows.

My other car, a 2003 Honda Accord can roll-up the driver-side window with a single click of the switch!

Just in case anyone else has the above problem and might have missed the Thread below (from a different board) with the solution:

Birdman,
Your original post is 2 years old. I do not know if you are still sending to Mini new suggestions to add/modify features through software programming, but here is mine:
On 2009 models the doors do not unlock as you turn the engine off. This option needs to be made available again. I had it on my '02, '03, '06 Minis, and it was very handy.

One thing I'd like to see is a temperature gauge built into the OBC. I can't stand not knowing if the engine is getting hot while pulling a grade with the A/C on during a 100+ degree day. I'd also like to see the seat belt chime volume be quieter or have the ability to turn it off completely.
