Get a tiger to change it stripes

I have a question, I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S with Rally Strips from the factory, but I want to change its stripes. How possible or impossible is it to remove the factory stripes.

I believe they just peel off. I've heard having them warm helps too.

Stripe Removal

Heat them with a hair drier first will make it go a lot easier, then they should peel right off.

Exactly.

Or on a hot sunny day with a warm engine, they should come right off.

Let me know if you will need help.

Take care, Mark.

Speaking of removing stripes, after you do this procedure what do you do next, especially if you want to install new ones. Would claying the bonnet be best or what do you suggest. I believe I read somewhere that you do not wax, if anything you want to remove all wax.

It would be a good idea to clay after removal.

And yes, you want to remove all wax before installation of new stripes. You want them to stick good and wax is supposed to prevent stuff from sticking to your MINI. Less chances of lifting on edges, etc. if you remove the wax (even though they will still stick fairly well).

Hope this helps, Mark.

After Stripe Removal

The best way to cut thru (remove) the wax is with dish washing detergent, then clay bar with a lot of lubricant, so you have a very smooth surface for the new stripes to stick to. After that I would rewax the area, including the new stripes. I use Zanio products.
Good luck,

Yup, but do not use it too often, not good for the clearcoat.

And 2nd yup to Zaino. Great stuff. Ask Brad B.

Mark.
