STLMINI owners, just to let you know, I am taking POOZ-1 in to the shop tommorow, to get my stumble fixed.

Quick question.....What do you all think of the White Tail Lamps? thinking about getting them, but dont know. POOZ-1 is dark silver with a black top. Opinions wanted!!!

Motor On!!

Let us know how the anti-stumble goes, and whether or not they charge you for doing it.

As far as the clear tail lights, they are actually what sold me on the IB over a year ago from a pic on miniusa. But since, I decided to go the opposite route; namely, tiniting the taillights. More stealthy, like the look better personally. FYI, there aren't any problems with visibility of the lights brakelight/taillight/"rear fogs" either.

Of course, not saying that they look bad, still like the look, though they look best on the pure silver.

Personally, I don't like them. I think they make it look like you are trying to follow trends or something. But I'm not one for much of any customization either so take it for what it is worth. If you like it, go for it.

I don't like the white side lamps but I did go for the white 3rd brake light. I think it blends into the white top on Bowser but if you have a black top I don't think I'd go for it. If you do go for them, look at Minispares.com as with the exchange rate they are cheaper than the local aftermarkets and dealers.

Does MINI of STL have the stumble-free software in? If so, let me know. I have been in touch with Mac for the last 6 months waiting for it. If they have it, I will make an appointment ASAP.

Make sure it is not version 35 that they are loading, since this is not the stumble-free software. It should be an unnamed version or version 36. Keep us updated. Thanks!

UPDATE-

Took POOZ-1 in today. I will not be getting him back until Monday or Tuesday. They are sending the chip to New Jersey (i think). Either way, It is the new version that is getting installed, and they seemed to be as interested about it fixing the "stumble" as I was.

Also, I am getting new inside handle bars (the ones in the door) because the paint has been wearing away.

I will keep you all posted.

I had Bowser in for his 25k service today and asked Mac about the ECU update.
He said to check back after the first of the year, and they should have the new software. He said they've even had problems with the ECU's they have sent to NJ for reprogramming coming back still messed up.
He also said I was more patient then some about it (Aaron? )

well, only had my mcs for about 3 weeks now but am new to the stumble. Can anyone describe it to me? The only problem i seem to have is the "yoyo" where second, third and a little of forth kinda "bob" up and down at about half throttle.... Anyone know about this? A fix for it yet?

Also, on another note, im developing a rattle in the right speaker or on the housing or something, it just showed up today, can i take it over to service and have them look at it?(right down the street from the dealership) or just go to the dealership?

_Scott

P.S. Im only 16 too, help would be kindly appreciated.

Scott,

You'll probably have to call and make an appointment. The couple of times I've had mine in (for an alignment and the weather strip on top of the windshield was coming off) it was a few days before they could get me in. Both the yo-yo and the rattle you describe have been discussed often on here. I don't think there is a fix for the yo-yo yet and I'm not sure if anyone has ever been completely satisfied with the dealer's fixes for the rattles in the door. Most of the posts I've read talk about installing Dynamat in the doors to help with that kind of thing. But if yours is still new, I'd say definitely take it in to give them the opportunity to make it right. Hopefully they'll be able to fix it for you.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Dan

So I have a question to my STL guys-Is it possible to have a stumble problem on a MC? I took my MINI in during the summer because it was losing power & RPM's especially with the A/C on. They interoggated the ECU & found nothing. Told me to bring it back on a hot day. Well, the summer from hell happened & I never got it in. What I am noticing now that the weather has changed is that I get an occasional hesitation when starting from 1st gear. I give it a little more gas & then launch like I've been shot out of a cannon. I've read all the threads & then some and it seems that most of the cars are the S. Since I've met all of you guys, I figured perhaps you would help a damsel in distress & perhaps very nicely tell me if this is the famous "stumble".

Thanks to all my buddies,
Lois
PS I've driven manual trannies since I was 16 & also have taken the Phil Wicks class so I don't think it's me. At least I hope not

Lois,

I have the same on Bowser.

In the summer 1st gear bogs down with the AC cranking.
In the winter when the engine is cold, I get a shutter when I slow to a stop (the engine drops below idle) and it hesitates in 1st and then shoots off. Every morning I drive to the bottom of my street and when I go to stop and turn left, it shutters and then hestitates, after that I'm fine.

That's the same problem I have. My MINI is a Feb 2003 build. So my question is whether I should pursue the upgrade? It sounds like you are going to.I'm due for my oil change probably by January. Hopefully they will have the upgrade by then.
Thanks,
Lois

Adam, Any update on how the stumble fix is working? Mac says they have the software in but are going to test it before installing it on my car. Let us know how your car is driving with the update. Thanks.
