I'm in DC for the summer and staying at a hotel very near Sterling, VA MINI dealer. The great thing is I get to see MINIs around the area every day, the bad thing is I'm seeing MINIs every day and have to drive a stinking rental car that is not a MINI. Gunner has been gone since Apr 25 and I'll be putting Gunner II on order by the end of Jun, probably a RG/S MCS this time around.

Enjoy your MINI every day, hope to see everyone again in St. Louis again at the end of summer.

I saw a sb/s checkmate while I was in my parents H2 between wentzville and lake st. louis and just about lost it. It was the first time I've seen another checkmate in the st. louis area. Everyone else in the car thought I was nuts. LOL. I think the people inside the MINI thought I was nuts to not knowing what I was pointing and waving frantically for...

 

Hahaha! I know what you mean. When my mom was in town and I had to drive her around in her car, I wouldn't think about it, and I would wave at the MINIs. People thought I was a fruit! =P

 

Sounds like an awesome color combo Scott. I love the siver myself. I'm glad you're getting a new MINI and I'll definitely want to see it when it gets here. You know I'm sure everyone wouldn't mind you coming to hang out, even with being between getting MINI's. Well enjoy the summer.

Thanks Shanna, I can't wait to get Gunner II on order. I'm staying at a hotel just about a mile away from the MINI dealer in Sterling, VA and see MINIs every day here. I won't know when he will be getting here for delivery until I can get him on order. I'm going with RG/RG with chrome mirrors now and that will be the order. I'll let everyone know when his delivery date is and see everyone at the first event after that.

Finally, after a long dry spell of oblivious, cell phone-using MINI sightings, a mutually enthusiastic encounter:

A blue cabrio with black stripes on the side road next to the zoo. I flashed, honked and smiled and the couple gave a smile and thumbs up.

Now, THAT's the sprit!

 

I honked at woman driving a hyper blue with double white stripes up the bonnet and down the boot. She waved and flashed a smile a mile wide!

 

Several of our Metro buses are sporting huge MINI ads on their sides. I saw one today---it's the "Sip, don't guzzle" ad.

I want go get a photo of the MINI next to a bus with the ad!

 

on 7/5 I saw an orange/blue top cabrio w stripes - I wanted to wave but I was in my work van I i don't think she would have thought it anything but crazy

 

I also saw a sign on the bus that had 3 MINIs and it words "Actual Size" on the bus. Again it would have looked cool to see a MINI next to the bus with the sign.

 

We live near Wentzville, and I see our own Checkmate's Checkmate all the time in the parking lot of the Home Depot there.

(Edited because I never "checked" back last spring to learn that, yes, the mystery Checkmate does indeed belong to Checkmate!)

Thats awesome!! I was out today and saw 4 MINI's a BRG MCS on 40 who seemed too distracted to wave. A CR/W MCS going west on 40 the opposite direction. Another BRG/B MC on 270 who waved. And finally a PW/B MCS over in wentzville who waved. It's so exciting to see all the mini's. I even happened to see a smart car rolling around today.

I also got my personalized plates this afternoon... 129-4cx (hwy 129 for CHECKS)

 

One of those was me! I was the BRG/B MC. I was on my way back to the Dallas area from visiting family in Illinois for the 4th. I stopped in at MINI of St. Louis to have something checked out. I was very happy for the enthusiastic wave I got--your car is beautiful!

Yesterday I saw the 'Tire Rack' MINI again, 141/44 around 7:10am. Chillie Red MINI. Plate is 'GIDTUP'. And I KNOW I saw a STL MINI Club sticker on the boot.

So who are you? And did you see me waving?!? I was in front, one lane over to the left.

 

Banner morning two MINIs going south on Hwy 55. Black with White top just north of Festus and a CR/W just north of Revis Barracks both traveling South while I was driving my pickup north to work. Can t wait for next week when I'm back in a MINI once again.

 

Yesterday as I was taking my mom out for breakfast, around 10:30am, we saw 4 of the [FONT=Helv][SIZE=2]Better Margarita MINIs at a Shell Station. Basiclly they where Red MC MINI with giant Margarita looking tops with salt and Lime. And of COURSE I forgot my phone at home, but they guy took my picture with them, and said he would email me.[/SIZE][/FONT]

I keep seeing more and more mini's in the Wentzville area.And they aren't all '06's either...I know there weren't that many 6 months ago...hmmm

 

I passed a Space Blue S convertible on Tom Ginnever Avenue in O'Fallon last Friday morning -- we traded beeps and waves.

 

I saw about 50 MINIs on Hwy 94 playing on the twisties. Everyone was waving and having fun. What a great MINI day in St. Louis.

Last night I was at the AMC 12 on Olive to see 'Fly Boys' (Very good movie btw). And when I got out there was a Black Classic Mini parked next to me! It had a British Flag on the roof, and it had white bonnet stripes. It was Left Hand Drive as well. I loved it! Got a few shots with my cell phone. I also left my card with it. I just wanted to know if any of you knew who the owner was.

 

I have seen a CR/W mini with stripes two mornings in a row in my neighborhood near 141 and Manchester. He waves, we honk, the kids squeal. We used to be a three mini neighborhood, until one guy traded his for an M3 wonder if we have a new member in the cult?

 

I am at 141 and Manchester everymorning, but I'm the BRG/W that waves and squeals like a little kid.

 

As a member of the Save the Wave Fondation I feel its important to share the joy of one MINI owner with another, no matter where I am.

And so last night I went to see Spamalot at the Fox. And I saw a Chillie MINI pulling into the same parking garage I was at. So, being who I am, I waved like a crazy man. This wouldn't be an oddity, except for the fact that I was walking at the time, and not driving. The lady in the passanger seat looked at me like I road the short bus. Then I turned, and pointed to the car I was standing next to, my MINI. She got this big OH look on her face, smiled big and started to wave. I saw them again after the show driving off, as we walked passed them. Waved again, and this time they waved right back. I wish the driver had rolled his window down, would have love to have talked to him. =)
