For those of you that ordered a MINI...

and took delivery in STL, how long did it take from its arrival at the Charleston VDC to arrive at the dealer? Mine's on order and I'm (im)patiently waiting!

Tough wait, eh?

It has been a while so I can't remember. But the car was built some time in September '03 and arrived October 31.

Call your MA, they should be able to help you.

My ship landed in South Hampton on 2/27/06 and the car arrived at the dealer 2/28/06. We were all very surprised because that is not normal, so don't get your hopes up. Just remember that you will forget the entire wait the second you sit in your car for the first time.

I am a little further west of you, but might be relevant. My MINI arrived at the VDC on a friday and then at the dealer in Oklahoma City the following Thursday. My MA said a car is usually at the VDC only 1 or 2 days but she has seen as much as four if they are backed up. Then four days on the truck when the vehicle leaves the VDC, to get to OKC. I would guess about a day less for it to reach St Louis. I picked it up May 1st, exactly five weeks from the day I ordered. Hang in there, it is getting close.

Yeah, tough wait! Was told a firm "6 weeks" and there's NO WAY it'll be here in 6 weeks. It won't arrive at the VDC before then, and then it has to prcess and get shipped up here.

Thanks for that info. Dang, you were LUCKY to get it in 5 weeks! I'm not holding my breath, but if it gets on the boat that is due on on June 26, it could THEORETICALLY make it to STL by the weekend of July 4. That would be 7.5 weeks for me. Not getting any dealer installed options that should take more than 5 minutes to put on (side scuttles) so I'll be pushing my MA to get it processed the minute it hits the door! Otherwise, I'm tied up the next two weekends, and since I'm 200 miles away from STL, it's not too easy to find someone to drive me down to pick it up through the week!

The Wait

Watch the Movie The Italian Job to pass the time. Thats what I did. And then watch the Chase scenes over and over.

That depends on how backed up the dealer is. Each dealer has a fixed number of production slots. When I ordered my car me MA was able to tell me exactly the next slot they had available for a MCS. A busy dealer might have weeks or months worth of orders in.

Once the car leaves the factory, there is no guarantee on how fast it will get on a ship, get to port, get through the VDC, and then to the dealer. My car was a week 6 build, and I think it left the factory on 2/14. I picked it up from my dealer on 2/28.

As a matter of fact, I bought it last night on Blu-Ray and watched it ($15 at wWally world right now!). I think it made it worse knowing mine was NOT sitting in my driveway, ready to recreate scenes from the movie! (and that Charlize wasn't ready to take me for a ride!)

The build went very quickly for us from order, but Moe first sat at the dock across "the pond" for a week and then sat in Charleston for a little over 3 weeks!
It WAS TORTURE!!!

I hope I don't have a repeat of your luck (or lack thereof!) It's been on the dock for a week in England and that's almost too much to bear! Can't imagine it being in VDC for three weeks! Knowing that it's "so close and yet so far!"
