Greetings and Introductions
Greetings Fellow Mini Colleagues!
I just got back from Minneapolis to pick up an ‘06 MCS JCW this weekend. 4796 miles and it’s loaded; doesn’t seem to have much missing off the option list. It was ordered and owned by a mega-rich guy in his 70’s. He traded it in on an Audi S4 in November and the dealer severely discounted the trade in. They miss-advertised it (never mentioned it was a JCW) and after having it sit around for a few months they took my low ball offer.
I'm coming from riding motorcycles; did 90,000 miles and 44 states over the last decade and wanted to get into a convertible. I think I found a great new option for my need for speed – this thing moves in the same league as my bikes did and corners like it’s on rails. Pictures up soon, film at 11:00.
I saw some discussion here about getting more participation at "events". Maybe some informal standing gatherings would help. A weekly meet and greet at some coffee house or Ted Drews or other likely venue might draw 2 minis one week and 40 the next, but if it happens on a regular schedule then it has a chance to build momentum over time. Same with regular excursions; meet once a week or month somewhere and head out for a few hours or the day depending on the route selected. Come one come all, and if your neighbor wants to come along their fill-in-the-blank vehicle so much the better. Just an idea - not too hard to try.
I read a ton on the NAM about minis before making the leap – thanks for all the great info and I look forward to seeing some of you on the road.
So let the games begin! Upper and lower strut braces, high flow air filter and spring trip planning here I come!
