Help! I just received the Remus Exhaust I've ordered. So happy, I called Crevier, Irvine, and Long Beach Mini service department -- all of them have refused to install based on warranty issues. WTF?!

That sound to me to be total bull $@#&*! Crevier have installed a Borla exhaust a couple of months ago on a friend of mine's MC. Probably another case of dealer want to make more money -- won't install them unless you buy the part from them... sigh.

But anyways, anyone know who I can go to to get install the exhaust? I would have done it myself if it weren't for the lack of tools and equipment. Should I go to a local muffler shop? Can I trust their workmanship? If so, any recommendations?

Thanks a bundle for help! :???:

kolinar,

Aloha and welcome to NAM.

You don't have to go to a MINI dealer to install any part. Since it is aftermarket there is no warranty on it by the dealer.

A good exhaust specialty shop would be capable of doing the install (cat-back exhaust) for roughly $80.
Try calling Peter at M7 for a recommendation. Maybe try Steve's.

If you're in Orange County, you might try Kenny's Muffler in Cypress. They've been around at least 40 years.

The dealer may have been more willing to install the borla because the borla is just a simple bolt-on where as the Remus requires you to cut apart the stock piece for the installation.

I would recommend steves auto clinic as well as if there is anything unusual required by the install such as the cutting mentioned there is also a full muffler shop on the premises. steves number is 818 891 6109.

What are your thoughts on these guys? I was not impressed with the place I went to with my other car. And, are they open on WE's (Saturdays)?

Any good muffler shop should be able to put on the Remus, even with the cutting required. Dealers won't touch it for that exact reason. It's an easy install if you can borrow some tools - only a 10mm, a 13mm, and a hacksaw are required, but it is labor intensive. It does sound great, tho! I love mine!

Not sure if they're open on Saturdays but you could call. So are you in Orange County, SD, the IE, or LA? That would help us in our recommendations.

If you're in LA County, I'd go with Steve's.
