I'm planning on moving back to L.A. by the end of August. w00t! SCMM and MightyMiniz events here I come.

I would appreciate any assistance in helping me find a job.

My background:

- 7 years of experience as a structural analyst.
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering and another B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, both from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
- I'm interested in a position as either a Structures Analyst or a Mechanical Systems Engineer.

My Resume

Also, I'm planning on establishing in-state residency to go back to school and get my MBA. If anyone has gone through the programs at UCLA's Anderson School, USC, or Pepperdine, I'd like to hear your impressions of the experience.

Thanks in advance,
Dave

I'll be living in Santa Monica (found a place on this last trip to L.A.) and hopefully working in the South Bay or West L.A.

Lockheed in Southern California is in Palmdale. I have no interest in living in the high desert. It's on the way to China Lake and Edwards in the Mojave.

In El Segundo the aerospace companies are Boeing Satellite Systems, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, and the Aerospace Corp. If anyone has any contacts at those companies please PM me.

Dave take a look at http://www.rayjobs.com . Raytheon is in a huge hiring swing at this time, but very specific to each job or department. I’m trying to move to CA myself and was looking, but nothing related to fiber optics at this time.

Thanks sndwave. I have a couple connections to Boeing and Raytheon (I worked at Boeing for 5 years).

What I could use are any connections to Northrop and The Aerospace Corp in El Segundo. [crosses fingers for an MCO'er to pull through  ]

DiD (DiLA)

Glad to hear that you resolved the workplace horror without resorting to going postal. Best of luck in LaLaLand. Sorry I can't be of assistance in the new job hunt, but I'm 2,500 miles away in the mid-west.

If I stay with the same theme, I was thinking about DaveInWestLA. Otherwise, I may do something totally different, but I'll start a thread about it soon.

I found a place in Santa Monica, so that much I do know. Now I just need to find a job and sell my Jetta.

Who do you know at Boeing? I may know the lad! I've been in Long Beach for 16 years.

I have a cousin that got his MBA at UCLA. He said he liked it a lot at UCLA. I visited him there a few times, its an awesome campus. If I do go for an MBA UCLA would be the school I'd go to.

Good luck here in CA!

DiD, I have a few friends in the USC MBA PM program. Meets twice a week on evenings. They tell me it's pretty tough the first year, you figure that you're getting back into the mindset of studying. People are also jsut learning to balance work with school during that first year.
However, apparently it becomes much easier in the next two yrs.

Maybe that's coz you have to take a preset course load during the first yr, then you're allowed to slow down and space it out.

If anyone out in San Diego has any connections in the job market of the visual arts, please PM me, as I too am looking for a job. I can do anything from photoshop to traditional work as well as assist in film production.
