I See Ghost Photos... and my sig disappears

Two NAMmers have claimed that they can no longer see my signature, while I can see it fine from both my User CP and on the threads I have posted on today.

I have also noticed photos posted by other people missing on several threads. I just see the little box with an x.

Just a guess here but maybe the gallery is still being worked on. If your signature is uploaded to the gallery then it should start showing once it is active again. Like I said, just a guess since it seems things are still being worked on.

I don't see the signature or the red X. Just blank like there isn't a signature. I'm using Firefox 1.0.7.

If I try IE, I see the red X and you can right click on the X and properties will show it is from the gallery here on NAM. Like I mentioned, once the gallery is back up then all should be well again.

Hmmm... I'm using Explorer and all is well from my end as far as my sig goes. I will assume it's a gallery glitch for now. No worries.

Do you see the part that says "05 JB/B etc..."?

Posting and reading this with Safari 2.0.

Booted up Firefox. (on a Mac Mini, OSX- Tiger) Same thing, just a blank where sig image would go, but text is there.

I looked into this and know what is causing the problem.

One of the great things about upgrading software is that you get to find some "features" that the developer thinks were a good idea. When the gallery software was upgraded it moved files around and changed their names slightly. What used to be image123-med.jpg is now /medium/image123.jpg.

In batgirlwildcat's case she was using the following URL in her sig:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/gallery/data/500/19787J_sSig1-med.jpg

with the upgrade it should now be:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/gallery/data/500/medium/19787J_sSig1.jpg

Everyone who is using sig image that is hosted in the NAM gallery can obviously go make changes like above to their signatures as needed if you don't want to wait. That said I'll be looking to see if I can find a means of updating all signatures and posts in the site so that they use the new URL scheme for referencing images. Unfortunately I'll have to do some digging to try to catch all the different ways this might have been used in the site and find a solution to resolve it. Sigh...I love software

Yes..the ones you don't see are due to the problem I mentioned above. The other four I have hosted elsewhere on the site. I've been working on a solution to the URL change issue above since about 9am today but don't yet have a complete solution ready/deployed. I'll provide an update when I have something in place.

Ok...its taken more than eight hours but I just deployed what I hope is a fix for the image problems we've been seeing. Looking through this thread I now see many of the signatures that I was expecting. Please let me know if anyone still sees problems with images on the site.

Thanks!

Mark
