Kosei R1 Wheels - 38mm offset, -2.5 camber front, -1.0 camber rear - temp 40-50 degrees (damned cold)

1.05 g lateral consistantly, and .97 stopping

driveability good, tolerance for excessive slip angle (my sloppy driving) better than the Falkens I think, but that's pretty subjective

data from the Devens EVO school - which was fabulous as usual

i was surprised and delighted to find NO rubbing, despite instructor enthusiasm and my 190 pounds on the passenger side during four runs

just a heads up for folks that like wide and cheap

ps: they are lower, so allow for that - my chin spoiler is getting a bit of wear from time to time...

 

Sounds like you have some kind of data aquisition device. If so, how fast can you go in 2nd gear with those tires?
(you're speedometer won't be accurate due to the major change in gearing)

Also, how did you determine they are better in the cold than the Falken Azenis RT-615's? We have 2 events in January, 2 in February and 2 in March and my Kumho V710 race tires were worthless!

 

1. almost.... G-Tech (so no GPS). I'd make an educated guess and say 65 mph (which takes advantage of the 6800 JCW redline). That is based only on arithmetic though (revs per mile for OEM Dunlops - 852, and for the Hankooks - 876).

2. I didn't! as my plan to get back to back comparative data fell apart...

They are a gamble, and perhaps the Falkens are better. Too soon to say. If Falken made this size I would run it without hesitation.

Regional Solo up in New Hampshire - 60 degrees and dry - tire temps never reached 110 degrees

 

Not my best day. Lovely LONG course, and fast. 1.08 g turning left illustrated. Not bad for street tires. Note the variety of slaloms...

on a wet day these tires pulled .83 with some standing water, and .88 about 45 minutes later - still wet but fewer puddles. Devens National (after the thunderstorms abated a little)....

Just a postscript on this thread....

I've run the shaved Kooks all summer as daily drivers, and they have worn well with tread bars now visible but no cording and no unusual wear patterns.

However...

The grip is down now, and I am being eaten alive by the RE-01R folks.

The moral of the story is...

Next year's setup will be shaved RE-01Rs (unless something changes) but I shall have to treat them like slicks - changing at the event and NOT putting an extra 10,000 miles of daily summer driving on them.
