Some R56 Autox video

First time taking video in the R56. Having a good time at Marina:

http://www.vimeo.com/1141581

The car is completely bone stock. I'm running 16x6.5 rota slipstreams with Falken azenis Rt-615 215s

The falkens pretty grippy. The R56 is a really fun car to autox. People are always really shocked. I've had a few experiences where people smugly ask me what my last run was to only be surprised when I got a faster time. Hahaha. I get good comments like 'that can't be stock!' 'what do you have in that thing?' I'm pretty sure most of those guys think I'm a liar. My answer always is 'look at the ride height, if It wasn't stock would I have it riding so high'

Here is a new video from Sunday... much tighter course. Pretty crazy:

Nice video, make sure you turn your rearview mirror sideways next time. My guess is that you did well compared to some other cars because it looked to be a very heavy transition course which the Mini does well.

Great video! I'm tempted to bring my stock R56 MCa with stock 15" all-seasons.

very nice quality and i enjoyed it - thanks for posting!

I'd sure like to try that course - it looks almost relaxing compared to what i am accustomed to!

I usually see courses that have on average one gate per second - the Devens NT course had thirty seven bends requiring significant direction change (.7g or greater) and seventeen significant braking points in 60 seconds...

All the cones in the video seemed to make the course direction obvious also - almost like a little road racing venue!

Nice to see the variety that exists across the sport.

Cheers,

Charlie

The courses vary quite a bit with that club. I really liked this one it was a lot of fun. The last time I went before this it was a lot tighter with no straights. It's nice to see such a variety month to month.

Great video....brings back a lot of great memories. I haven't autocrossed for years, but with the new MINI I'll have to give it a try. Thanks for posting that.

OMG that must have been a nightmare to set up that course!!! It's a sea of cones! Makes it easy to drive and not dnf, but lordy that must be a pain to set up.

Looked like you had pretty fast runs in both of those videos...I only saw you go wide in one corner in the newest vid. Great job

BTW, what band and song was that in the older video....Don't know about relaxing, but I could jam to that

Haha. Well the wind noise was really bad on this video so I added the music to cover it up. Next time I want to cover up the mic to see if I can eliminate some of the noise.

Well I like seeing videos so put as many up as you like. What are you using to record? The quality is good and it's not shaky like a mounted video camera?

Do you have a limited slip in your car? I have a quaife sitting on my living room floor waiting for install at the end of the month, and can't wait to see how much of a difference it makes. Curious if you were a one wheel peeler or not as I have the hardest time getting traction on mine on the corner exits.

I am using a panasonic hdc-sd1. It is a hd flash based camcorder. I mount it with a "cruise cam" camera mount. You can google it. Also CCD based cameras are better than CMOS based cameras. Tape based cams can drop out in a car situation. This cam has good image stabilization.

yeah I ordered the car with the limited slip. You need to install yours right away. My inside wheel would spin like crazy if I didn't have it.
