black liquid leaking from exhaust
hi, my few weeks old countryman (S model) currently leaking out some black liquid, something like carbon stain left on both exhaust. Is it normal?? or any S model owner experience the same issue?

cars tend to run very rich at startup and under hard acceleration. that's the source of the carbon (excess fuel from combustion recombines into carbon and other by products).
normal combustion is responsible for the water which condenses on the inside of the engine overnight and can come out wet or steamy when the car is cold.
once it's warmed up, you dont notice it as much because it's clear vapor.

The Italian tune up should be a regular part of MINI ownership and proper procedure outlined in the owner's manual.
Barkeepers Friend is an excellent agent for cleaning the black stain from the tail pipes. Non abrasive and easy to wrinse off.

Well, at least we did not tell the op his blinker fluid was leaking out....and he needed to return to the dealer asap for a refil!!
to the op...
If it has dried out, use some wd-40 on a rag...it will wipe right off.

Didn't we do this dance somewhere else a few days ago? We could put together a vaudeville act or sumptin. Made me go look to see would I like black tips but, no, I'll keep wiping his little butt after a hard drive.
